After Phinzone took over the NE front office and cleared out the emberassing Bellicheat regime, he attempted to build upon one of the most impressive offenses ever assembled.
Gone is the lackluster Donte Stallworth, in is the impressive Roy Williams. With virtually the entire offense intact one must wonder what the Patriots will do with the first overall pick. Do they address some pressing defensive issues, or do they add to their high powered offense.
A recent interview with NE GM Phinzone started some shocking rumors.
When asked how he felt about his current amount of Draft picks Phinzone reiterated that he is still looking for another high pick. When asked what compensation he had to offer to move into the top 10, he replied..."why one of the most prolific QB's ever". Could it be true the New England Patriots are shopping the face of their franchise? The rumors appear to be true, as they've been in talks with two teams about the possiblity of moving Tom Brady, but nothing concrete has come of it yet.
One of the hold ups is Brady's cap friendly salary Phinzone explained. When you have a young franchise QB with a cap of only 5 million, it is hard to find comprably priced talent to work in the trade. If a true partner comes forward however, expect New England to pull the trigger. Rumor has it Phinzone wants to install his own engine in his high powered offense, and would risk the public backlash of moving the franchises most popular player.
Also there have been rumors coming out about the first overall pick. While New England has not settled on whether they will use the top pick, or trade it to one of it's suitors, there are rumors that the Front office is highly interested in McFadden. McFadden would add a much needed powerful runner to an already dangerous offense. The addition of McFadden would possibly give the patriots the most versatile RB combo in the NFL between a hardhitting talented RB in Mcfadden, and the shiffty explosive running style of Laurence Maroney.
