Good mornin everyone: :dolphins:

As I was making my usual rounds thru the NFL News and Rumor sites, I came across this article on FoxSports.com. Rather than giving you the link, I just pasted the article onto this thread. It's actually part of a bigger article breaking down the AFC East. ***If you wish to view the whole article, you can go to: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl

But for our concerns here, We really don't care about the :monkeyr: Patsies, Jills and Jets :monkeyl: -- only what they said about our beloved FIns :cooldude:

So with that said, you guys can read the article below and let me know what you all think......Feeddddddddddddd backkkkkkk please!!!

Enjoy!!!

EDIT: Thanks, but per the TOS, it's better that you do the opposite. Give a piece of the article and post the link. :)

Thanks, Muck

"Culpepper will certainly enjoy throwing to his new tight end, Randy McMichael, who should be rejuvenated after surprisingly not exerting any effort this off-season on beating his wife."

OUCH!!!

it looks like a crock. If you look at the stats they use to critique receivers, they have Chambers as the 77th best receiver in the league behund such stars as Marty Booker, Finneran, oh yeah and Wes Welker.

BTW, if someone can explain DPAR and DVOA, I would be interested. It seems awful subjective, and voodoo like to me

Kind of like a QB rating...Chambers is very low cause he only catches around 50% of his balls, he had like 5 fumbles last year. If you read more into it it tells that the QB situtation correlates some of his bad play.....Welker is high cause he converts a lot of third downs and catches most of his balls, and booker is high because his 3rd in the league Yards per catch....

that guy is full of s h i t he knows chambers is an elite receiver that little bull s h i t rating thing has nothing to do with the player at hand its just a way of him tryin to jip chambers out of being a star players cus the writer knows he is half the man his MOTHER is

Those rankings are pretty good. They tell you what a players production actually did for your team and against who he did it against.

They also compare what a player has done in the same situations to what other equal or worse players have done.

For example, Moulds has always been pretty low on these rankings because he would get stats, but the Bills would not benefit much from them.

Granted Chris dropped a good number of balls last year, i think even for him, a pro-bowl reciever it's hard to catch as many passes as he did when a majority of them are not where thrown where they should be. Frerotte's lack of accuracy last year hurt Chambers greatly, but he was still a pro-bowl reciever. When you look at the QB's he had to play with in Lucas, Griese, Fiedler, Rosenfels guys who aren't the greatest gunslingers and certainly are no DAUNTE CULPEPPER, i'm relatively excited for 8 to hook up with 84 many times this season.

My problem is, unlike qb ratings where there are specific, objective numbers plugged into a formula, these figures, rely on stats of "replacement level players" or "average players" in the "same game situations" Who make these decisions? Again seems very subjective to me. And again, I ask you who would you rather have as your receiver, Chris Chambers or Antonio Bryant.

Pretty funny stuff...... 1st of all you don't rate players by their stats without even watching them play LOL. 2nd...... 50% of the balls thrown Chambers way are uncatchable.... Gus was no more accurate than Fiedler sadly. Besides that lame ranking system doesnt take into account the percentage of receptions taken to the house... which is where Chris has always been one of the best. 29 Tds the past three years with an avg. of 65 rec. from OUR QBs!!!!! I'd only put one handful of guys ahead of Chris at this point.

They are not 100%, but its a good way to judge a player and on the most part I have agreed with their rankings.

If a player puts up 200 yards against the worst defense in the NFL, he wont get as much credit as someone who puts up 90 against the best defense.

Its also big on reliability. Can your team depend on this player to make a play when their # is called.

good information buddy

shoot yourself bill barnwell. that's a lot of numbers.

the more i think about this, the more it looks like DVOA and DPAR are better statistics to grade entire offenses, not players. way too many variables.

You're right, considering that they rank Wes Welker better than anyone on your squad and Marty Booker better than your number 1 WR, I agree too. :sidelol:
