We have loaded a new poll on the front page!

"WHO IS THE MIAMI DOLPHIN ROOKIE OF THE YEAR?"

Please vote and then tell us in this thread who you voted for and why?

I went with Big Jake because he has solidified our O-line (area of MAJOR weakness)

However, consideration needs to go to Bess and Carpenter as well. Impressive for two undrafted rookies to make such an impact.

Gotta go with Jake Long....he has given Chad plenty of time to throw it....opened some nice holes for Ronnie and Ricky, and solidified our line.

Long has done an excellent job in the NFL, and Bess has done an excellent job showing up to the games and contributing. I have to go with Long because he just showed us last week he can play threw the pain and take on another top drafted rookie.

i voted for Big Jake Long because he's helped our OL tremendously this year, and will be the cornerstone for our OL for years...

I concur. As far as impact and living up to inherently lofty expectations, Jake is a no-brainer. Prior to the draft, I was saying that selecting a robust franchise LT is more important than a QB, no matter our circumstances. Picking up Pennington's a godsend, but had we started Henne, I think Jake,Smiley :boohoo::boohoo:, Carey, et al would made him if not Ryan-like, then at least Flacco-like. Great selection who's living up to his advanced billing.

I voted for Jake Long. When you're the number one overall pick of the NFL Draft, expectations are exceedingly high. Especially, if you happen to be a LT. Jake has without a doubt lived up to the billing and has done a fantastic job in his first NFL campaign. For many years, Miami has been a soft, weak, and finesse team that lacked physicality. Jake Long doesn't put just a face on Miami's new "physical, tough, disciplined" culture. He has brought it week in and week out, and defenders are learning to bring their lunch pail when they face Jake Long. Because, when you go one on one with Big Jake.... Win or lose, you will be hurting when the final gun sounds.

Jake Long for me. Has been immense all year. Consistent, physical, disciplined are just a few of his attributes. A symbol of what the Dolphins are becoming is represented by Jake. May he continue to be a Dolphin for many a year to come.

For the entire NFL, I think Rookie of the Year will go to Matt Ryan. The Falcons finally made a really smart draft pick. I'm happy for them after all they have been through.

I agree for the FINs Jake Long is a no Brainer with Bess a close second.

For the NFL, Ryan wins it and Flacco deserves alot of praise. Hopefully Henne works out for us and this year might end up being a nice QB draft for the NFL, we definately need a few more.

Funny thing is, My bud is a die heard Atlanta fan. We both spent all offseason basically breaking down the draft, and we both wanted nothing to do with Ryan. As the draft got closer and closer and it seemed that Atlanta was going to pull the trigger, we both were still skeptical.

I will admit when I am wrong, he proved us both wrong and Atlanta has a found a gem. And I am now a M.Ryan fan as well.
Cheers

we needed a solid O-linemen and Jake is doing his job well

Bess is probally one of the most surprising rooks in the league but i would have to go with jake because i think he makes chad really comfortable having his back turned to the left while he looks for bess ginn n cami for a solid throw

i vote big jake to. However i must admit having to decide between him bess and carpenter because all 3 were contributing so well was like the coolest problem ever.:hi5::woot::woot:

now that ive thought about it for a minute. I wish i could cast a write in vote for Tony sparano. Hes a rookie to remember, and has done one hell of a job.

I have to go with Bess not to take anything away from Jake who is awesome.I base this on Jake was the #1 over all pick in the draft a cant miss prospect.Davon on the other hand was undrafted just made the team and climbed the depth chart to get where he is now.He has played awesome made some key contributions the whole year.
