I think we have to get a new PR and KR.

It seems like for one welker isnt nearly as good as lst year but on the other hand he is doing so well as a WR and consitently makes good catches and plays after the catch.

I think we need to protect welker becuase aside from chambers he is our best option this year at WR.

I don't think it is a Welker problem as much as it is a special teams blocking problem. We simply don't set up the blocks to help him break free.

yea good point, but wat i was tryin to basically say that welker is such an asset in the slot that we gotta find a idfferent KR at least

I agree that having Wes have dual duties increases his risk of serious injury, if that is what you are saying, but having him return kicks and play the slot is that it frees up a roster slot. Saban is smart in that he prefers players who are versatile at least trainable in other positions. He's done the same thing with some degree of success with the OL and the defense.

i think the special teams coverage hasnt been that special year.....mybe a new PR bc that is where he doesnt get as good protection

I totally agree with you....r special teams blocking sucks. Even the flyers on the outside r getting past two blockers and making the dam tackle as soon as Wes catches the punt. There is no excuse for one man to get past two.

Shirdonya Mitchell will help next year, hes fast!!! 4.3 40

NT - Haloti Ngata 1st
QB - Paul Pinegar 2nd
WR - Mike Haas 3rd
LB - Rocky McIntosh 4th
S/LB - Brian Iwuh 5th
OT - Mark LeVoir 6th

the first two I agree but there is no way Mike Haas will be there at the 3rd round he will be gone by the 2nd.

????????????

Wes is one of the top returnmen in the league in terms of average yardage, I don't agree that his return game is suffering. Let him continue to do both.

The other major importance of Wes as our returner is the things he doesn't do. Doesn't make bad decisions, doesn't fumble or muff catches, doesn't dance and run sisde-to-side instead of getting upfield. It's a real comfort to me these days having him back there to handle returns just because I know he'll make the right decision, field the ball cleanly and get some positive yardage if possible. If he breaks one, that's just gravy in my book. Look how many games turn on big turnovers on a punt or kick return. Doesn't happen with us (or very rarely) with Wes back there.

I agree 100%. I've said it since last year, Welker lacks the breaking speed like no other. When he broke against Baltimore last season, the guy almost got ran down by a linebacker. No knock on Wes, since I know everybody is gonna take this PERSONAL. He's a good 3rd down receiver in the slot, but he's not a very good return man. At least not as good as people credit him to be.

thsi is my POINT

he i a good wr this year

But on Kickoffs he doesnt do that well. We need a guy that has some more speed. welker just isnt that fast, if he was the Chargers woulda kept him.

I agree man. Welker doesn't have the quickness and the blazing speed to be a top returner in the NFL. It would be best for Welker if he worked alot more at being a WR, then a return man because Welker has the skills to be a damn good slot WR for us.

He has decent speed

and great vison

and makes his decisions fast

Thats what makes a great return man not pure speed

Ill take a guy that consistantly gets the ball to the 25 or 35 yard line over a guy that can break one but also gets stopped behind the 20
