From there, Ellis went to Shaw, where he started to improve in the classroom and is working on finishing a recreation degree.

''I played the three [gap], some of the nose,'' he said. ``Coming in here is a big change of position for me. I've got to learn to play two-gap. I think the vet [Ferguson], he can show me how to play it when he gets in. It's kind of tough on me, but I'm going to get it done. There's nothing I won't learn.''

With a thick, massive build from shoulders to hips, Ellis looks like a nose guard.

''Raw fundamentally, long way to go that way,'' Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said. ``Some things we are going to have to do from a developmental standpoint. He did flash at me athletically and from a strength standpoint on several occasions.''

Although Sparano liked Ellis' feet and quickness, he did say with a chuckle, ``We are going to take a look at all of these guys from a body weight standpoint now and start to decide who is going to weigh what and he won't be going up.''

Im hoping this kid is our Davone Bess this year. Tony said he expects atleast two UDFA to make the team each year. Sparano says the Dolphins works very hard trying to find UDFA who could make the team and I think this kid will really push Soliai. One has to also remember Joe Cohen who is on the roster has a very similiar build and was drafted as a 4th round pick last year by Sisco. We might have to up and comers at DT.

I would just say...I know if I'm Solai...I know they said I was great and everything....But, I'd just take a look around at reality and get a snapshot of it.

youre right goon.. plus no matter how good a player seems.. if your a cam cameron guy it doesnt seem like your going to make the team..

I dont agree with that Statement Ginn has been given a chance to shine and is doing a great job at getting better and so have guys like Roth, Soliai and Fields. I think that if you dont perform then you can kiss your *** goodbye and guys like Allen and Wilford could soon seen the door. Especially when a guy like Culver has shined and Clemons has shown promise. Wilford could be cut at any day, I think guys like Hartline, Turner and even Bess have more upside. I dont think it is a matter of not being part of this regime. I think it is a matter of not performing.

Wilford was their guy and he didn't see the field, but guys like Martin and Roth both did and played esceptionally well.

Matt Roth was drafted by Nick Saban. Other than that I agree with you on the performing issue.

Wilford's not going to be shown the door yet because he's too expensive to cut at this point.

I know Roth was drafted by Saban, Im just trying to make the point that as long as you show you can play for these guys it does not matter who the hell drafted you or signed you. They have to have liked Roth play last year and how he has shown improvement each and every year, if not I think they draft an OLB early.

As for Wilford, my opinion is he will be gone at some point. No way Miami keeps seven reciever on their roster especially when a guy like Cobbs will line up at reciever at times. Miami admited they should not have signed Wilford by sitting him practically all season. Anyways I think eventually he gets cut along with Allen and Soliai better step up his game cause he has two guys behind his back dying to make an NFL Roster.
