.... for the Brees situation?

From finheaven's front page

The Bengals continue to talk with the agent for free agent Jamie Martin, a former Rams backup. The Dolphins also have had conversations with agent Tom Mills, and now New Orleans has entered the picture because it wants competition - and an insurance policy - for Drew Brees, who is coming back from shoulder surgery.

Competition to try to get us to pay more the way they did with Brees? Silly New Orleans. When will you learn not to mess with Saban. :shakeno:

wow i hope thats not really whats goin on.......that would be "delightfully" sad....we all know how good Mueller and Sabans neogotiation skills...no sweat

Surprised Saints haven't been as active (at least reported active) in the search for a backup behind Brees. With Saints current backups Bouman & McPherson, they need a backup QB just as big as Bengals or us.

Or maybe they have a better look at Brees's shoulder and realized he's not on target for a recovery like they originally thought.

Could be this or again , looking at the Daunte situation, all this public noise to find a backup could be a way to just get Daunte to FOCUS on rehab, not saying we don't want Harrington or Martin, i'm just saying if your a player and the team is shopping around due to a lack of confidence in health, you might work a little harder!

Getting Joey would be huge.

New Orleans should be trying sign FA's to help the team, not stockpile QB's.

If they screw us out of Jamie Martin, I'm going to be so furious!!@#$%^&*(

Well, if they do, they'll over-pay like they did for Broken-Brees.

Also on ESPNs new mock Draft they have the Saints taking Leinhart with the 2nd pick. It seems to me the saints are really scared of Brees, there idiots for signing him anyways, should have just drafted Leinhart and been happy.

if they do get him, will he take out a whole page in the back of the newspaper like brees did?? " thank you new orleans for giving me the chance to back up a broken qb "

and if they do over pay. will they complain its our fault again and not their front offices??? hahaha stupid N O saints

Thats childish. Teams don't go around trying to outbid each other to piss each other off or screw the other team. The reason they are bidding on a player is because they want that player if the price is right. New Orleans really doesnt have a great backup and with Brees being hurt they can't take any chances if he isnt ready.

Is there really a huge difference between Jamie Martin and Todd Bouman? No there isn't. NO is trying to get back at us, by driving Martin's price up, but it won't work. The saints are being a bunch of jack@sses right now, because they know that they paid 10 million a year for a QB, even though there was no competition.

While you may be right about NO needing a backup, you are dead wrong about teams trying to outbid each other, piss off each other, and/or screw the other team. Winning championships isn't like talking with your neighbor.

exactly right. Every dollar you get the other guy to spend is a dollar you are no longer competing with.
