Apparently, Gus dressed out and had pads on, did warmups and everything, but didn't throw the ball once. Sage got all the work.

Darlington also notes that the finger still appears to be very tender.

I'm guessing this is a clear indication that Frerotte will not start this week, because he who practices, plays, if you ask me. Gus doesn't have star QB status to where he can abstain from practice most of the week, practice on Friday, and then play.

Nice Read! We really get to see what Sage can do this Sunday!

i think we can speculate allllll week long....its gonna be a game time decision i bet.

Frerotte that bastitch. He's trying to force the coach's hand...bringing up how guys like McNair and Favre play on Sunday without practicing much all the time. Who the heck does he think he is? He's no Steve McNair. He's no Brett Favre.

For a guy who couldn't stop talking about what a value it is to keep working with the receivers in the offense in order to keep getting "closer and closer" to developing chemistry, to come out and say he doesn't need to practice this week to play...well, more than just a little hypocritical. The truth of the matter is back then he was dueling with AJ Feeley and had taken a slight lead in the race, and was trying to get the coaches to let him take all the first team snaps for the sake of chemistry. Now, he's banged up and senses that if Sage does well this Sunday, Sage could take over for him permanently, and so Gus all the sudden says that practicing together isn't necessary.

I hope Saban sits his sorry @ss. That's just absurd, comparing himself to McNair and Favre and saying he doesn't need to practice to play. Screw him. He who practices, plays.

I'm sure Saban is going to keep who is starting at QB close to the vest and not tell anyone other than maybe Sage...why give the Browns anymore info than they need.

Question: Do you think the Browns really care who plays at QB for us? They have no reason to think Sage and Gus are different kinds of QBs (unlike, say, Mike Vick and Matt Schaub), and Gus scares nobody so it only follows that his backup wouldn't scare anyone either. Their game plan is all going to be on stopping Ronnie and Ricky.

I don't know if it really matters who the QB is....if A.J. can beat them....Donald Duck should win for the Dolphins Sunday.

The real game plan should be for the Dolphins, is to stop Linehan. :fire:

Great Obs!! Sage needs to take full advantage of this cuz it might be his only chance to pull away with the job........

Fishypete, I think you should read this. You might get a kick out of it. I did. I was squarely on the Linehan bandwagon until right around the Falcons game. Now I've been off it and haven't been too popular considering my blatant disrespect for him lately.

Back in Week 2 or 3 I still thought Linehan was god's gift to coordinators, yet I still had to say what I noticed in the Jets game back in Week 2...

Scott Linehan vs. Donnie Henderson

Who Won: Donnie Henderson

What Happened: Against the Denver Broncos, Linehan used much more creativity to generate first downs and move the ball down the field. The play-calling against the Jets was much more passive and uninspired. In order to cover up the weakness of cornerback David Barrett, the Jets utilized double-teams and under coverage on his side of the field. The Dolphins made some use of Randy McMichael to exploit the double-teams, but spent far too much time challenging Ty Law on the other side of the field. Chris Chambers was never moved around in order to gain favorable match-ups, and his production showed as Law was able to hold him to 3 catches for 21 yards.

The Dolphins also made very little use of Wes Welker on three- and four-receiver sets. Welker was able to consistently move the chains against the Broncos, and was able to produce similarly when utilized against the Jets. The Dolphins appear to be far too enamored with David Boston’s glory days and physical measurables despite consistently disappointing effort and intensity on the football field. The Dolphins would have had the opportunity to use Wes Welker as a Wayne Chrebet type chain mover, but made little efforts to use three- and four-receiver sets in order to deliver favorable one on one match-ups. Additionally, the Dolphins continued to use stretch plays in the running game despite the Jets’ overzealous efforts to crash the outside running lanes with Eric Barton and their safeties. The Dolphins enjoyed their most success when running up the middle of the defensive line, and bouncing plays outside when the opportunities presented themselves. Sammy Morris got better run blocking and play-calling than Ronnie Brown, and fittingly enjoyed more success.

Why would their gameplan be to stop Ronnie and Ricky when we hardly use them? Gus threw the ball 47 times last game, they're going to gameplan for the pass more than they are the run.

Exactly, and yes he did play the coaches in preseason to get all the snaps:fire:

All Sad....and All True! The more the Dolphins play....the more I see that Moss was the true reason why the Vikes won their games. You don't have to be very good as a O.C.....just smart enough to keep throwing Moss the football.

Well we don't know if he threw after the reporters left. They are only there for the 1st 30 minutes of practice.
