New Ricky Article

Thanks for the link Valandui.
His legacy as an NFL player wasn't important until his troubles started to overtake the good he had accomplished.

"It was never something I thought about until it turned into a negative legacy," Williams said. "Now it's my responsibility to make the life of my family and my children better (by) leaving the game on a positive note ... I think people need to know I'm dependable."
It took 10 years but Ricky is finally listening to what his agent has been trying to tell him about his football legacy.

well,as long as he's finally listening, and actually making the attempts to turn his troubled last few years into something good and something people,as well as other football players can learn from and not make the same mistakes as he did, then that's good for him,and us if he can get back to being the Ricky Williams who ran good. we're all humans and we do make mistakes, but as long as we can turn ourselves around and make our lives into something positive, then things can workout good for all of us.

I hope the 4 years are spent in a Dolphins uni and he retires one of us. Everyone makes mistakes and screws up, it's not about what you do wrong it's about how you fix what you do wrong. You can act like the victim or you can take the blame and put forward the effort to fix the mistakes you've made. As a human being that's all we can ask of anyone. Good read, I wish him well.

As I was reading this article I couldn't help but think back too when Ricky was in California doing weird things and saying he was done with football. People on Finheaven were asking if he would ever be a dolphin again. What about all the money already payed out and who would trade for him. Then he ran off too Australia and was living on the beach. Alot of anger toward him at the time. Seemed like a very distant possibility he wouild ever be back in Miami. I am glad he has finally grown up. Last year had too be a record for injuries and hopefully we'll be alot more fortunate.

What advice you think Master P gave him as a agent?

"Ricky....makem say uhhhhhh...pa, pass the blunt!"

I completely agree. Even with all he has done in the past, it would kind of hurt to see him in another uniform again. I do wonder how much Parcells had to do with his deciding to play longer than one more year like he originally said though.

Thanks, nice little video of him too...he looks good, he's definitely heavier now than he was in the 2005 season. Man if he has that incredible speed he had in the 2002 season he's going to be amazing this year.
It's nice to see he wants to play another 4 years...I hope he retires a Dolphins. I'm proud to have such a talented RB on my Miami Dolphins.

Funny, in the video he talked about the opportunity to make a lot of money. He knows this is his last shot to not have to work for the rest of his life. I HOPE he performs well enough to warrent a big contract in two years.

That's the thing, Ricky's shown that he'd be perfectly happy sitting around completely lit, practicing holistic medicine (*shudder*) in some desert commune. No doubt he'd love the money, but considering how flaky he is, maybe he actually wants to play football again? Maybe really provide for his children? Hell if I know, the man is just bizarre; can't fault him though.

His contract is up after this season, so he needs to perform well this season if he wants to cash in on a multi-year deal somewhere. I really do hope he can return strong, and I really do want him to retire as a Dolphin. Despite all his problems, he is a fun player to watch and have on your team.

I am also happy to have the return of Ricky and Ronnie.

AMEN Nublar :hi5:

I read the article and came away thinking this...

GO RICKY!!!

However, I already was saying go RICKY!!! lol...

Everyone makes mistakes...EVERYONE!!! There is plenty of people in the Hall Of Fame that have done worse. Sorry quiting on your team and smoking pot is a LOT better than smoking crack, DUI after DUI, beating women...etc...

GO RICKY!!!

Rick needs to make it through 4 quarters before he worries about 4 years.
