Has us taking Eddie Goldman

The Phins appear to be back on track after the disastrous final year of former general manager Jeff Ireland’s tenure. The new regime has cleaned up the mess along the offensive line and now it is time to fix some of the mistakes made on defense. On the face defensive tackle wouldn’t appear to be a glaring need but Jared Odrick is a free agent while Randy Starks is on the wrong side of thirty and not in the long-term plans. Eddie Goldman is the next stud defensive lineman produced by the Florida St. program, following in the footsteps of Corey Simon, Travis Johnson, Brodrick Bunkley, Letroy Guion, Andre Fluellen and Timmy Jernigan. Goldman is an imposing physical specimen with excellent size and strength. While not an impact pass rusher Goldman is stout at the point of attack versus the run but quick and athletic enough to penetrate and disrupt in the backfield as well. Texas DT Malcom Brown is also battling Goldman to be the third player off the board at the position. Miami could be in the market for an upgrade at outside linebacker too and if that's the case Vic Beasley of Clemson and Shaq Thompson of Washington would be options. Don’t rule out some help for the secondary in the form of Alabama S Landon Collins or Michigan St. CB Trae Waynes either. Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey proved to be a bit of a wild card in his first year at the helm so watch out for a curveball too.

Other notable picks...

Danny Shelton at 5

Andrus Peat to the Rams

Arik Armstead to the 9ers

Quieten Rollins in round 1 to the Steelers

Todd Gurley to New England

don't know what to think about goldman. I don't see Sheldon going to the skins. they need ol help bad

Possibilty....if it falls the way he projects...or we could take Lael Collins and solve our left guard....back up left tackle hole.

Shelton's rise reminds me of the Eric Fisher rise, post senior bowl. I'd love to get Shelton, but it doesn't seem likely. Watching what happens with Gurley will be fascinating. My guess is teams will get more comfortable over time and the Pats won't come close to sniffing him.

Pats may not have a pic come draft time.

Basically this guy has us potentially taking beazley a guy that wants to play going forward all the time and most comfortable on the Los and attacking and having him play off the Los probably as a strong olb on early downs...I'm not sure he has the poa strength anyways to play strong but you would be negating his best trait that got him drafted in the top 15 in the first place...his explosive upfield pass rush off the edge and a move to olb would be a top 15 pick projection

Really dumb...that's a wolb in a 34 no projection fit

This guys got Vic Beasley as a potential 43 olb for us..
Depends on what he means. As a traditional backer then yeah thats a poor idea. If you are going to use him like Denver uses Miller or Seattle uses Irvin in their 4-3 fronts then thats a different story.

Very few of these "mock draft" sites take scheme into consideration. They just see position A filling need A on said team...match, write it down.

Not when you got all those other potential olb good athlete fits in house...if miamis looking lb they should be looking mike...that's it...don't use a top 15 pick on a projection move

Theres not a pure Mike Id take in the top 20. Best LB in the class to me is Dawson who I have a 1st round grade on. He can fake Mike on early downs I think….but he's best suited at WLB where we already have Jenkins.

If you want a true Mike you better be hoping Willis finds his way down to Miami or it aint looking good.

Eric Kendrick's has the best instincts in the class at mike...but he looks short...and he can have some issues getting off blocks...but he's also ahead of the play a lot...he's a better move athlete than I expected also...3 down mike if he was 6 ft 1 I'd take him at 14 his measurables will decide his value for me...it won't get to 47 either way in this class

That's the mike I'd want followed by McKinley cause he's athletic enough I think he can learn coverage and if your dts aren't gonna be great keep lbs clean his fill and poa strength would help us...that guy can run for his size...like really run...he's almost all post snap which is why at 14 I say no but he's on my list

Dawson would be miscast at mike...I'm not doing that to a guy..did it with misi already

Don't waste mid round picks on guys that haven't got a clue either...

Kendricks is my #2 backer. I also think he's a better fit for OLB but like Dawson I think he could play Mike on early downs. Dawson and Kendricks are very similar size wise and I actually give Dawson the edge with instincts…McKinney Im with you on though…pretty much spot on..and I also agree I wouldn't take him at 14 but he won't make it to the 2nd round.

None of these guys are worth the 14th pick in my eyes…and probably all 3 are gone by 47.

I agree with both of you... Kendricks is my main guy... gonna be very solid LB in the NFL... I hope we can get him, but trading down i think should be a big option for us at #14.

McKinney is so athletic, but so lost in the passing game... Hopefully he can learn, but if his instincts are far off out of college, its gonna take a long time to learn and develop instincts and reading ability... he looks so off in the passing game right now.

Dawson is definitely an OLB, but what instincts and athletic ability he uses... he'll make plays at the line and fires.
