NEWS: Chester Cut, Feeley Demoted, Gus Named Starter

What's the point of cutting Chester when he's on the PUP list? He's not taking up a roster spot at this time. Oh well.

That's a good question. I don't know how much salary he is taking up, but it could be for the purpose of clearing some room for someone we are looking to sign...?

and its about time AJ gets back to 3rd string.
 
I think the Dolphins will sign Tim Couch within the next couple of days.
 
Becasue they can bring him back after week 1 at a reduced salary. Vets are going to be cut, sit out week 1 and then resigned. Go to nfl.com and watch that Adam Schefler video, he talks about this issue. Good move, because he is not ready to play anyway. Get some cap relief instead of having him on PUP for 6 weeks.
 
If the Phins absolutely knew that Chester was not going to make the team, even when he is healthy, then they did the right thing. It gives Chester the opportunity to look for another team to latch on to...as unlikely as that may be.
 
Maybe something to do with the salary cap? Do players on the PUP list still count against the cap if they make it into the top 51 salaries on the team? If they get game checks during their time on the PUP (which I bet they do) then I believe it would make sense that they still count on the cap if they're in the top 51 group. If they do count, it is easy to see why he was cut.
 
hope larry doesnt stop working out..he could resign with later

regardless of who they sign, there will be quite a few QBs that will be available for the third job in a few hours
