Think it might be time the NFL becomes the National Flag Football League for quarterbacks? They need to better protect their most important asset.
How often is Josh Allen in the grasp and still throws for a completion? Whatever happened to that rule? The refs let Mahomes and JA throw at will when the very subjective “in the grasp “ is ignored.
At a minimum once the flag is pulled, play over, an objective measure. Might reduce injuries?
Plus the fact the refs have been flagging just about every play this year, why not?

It isnt as studip as it sounds, but they wont do it for obvious reasons... Some of the most successful QBs ATM would be highly affected by that rule... This rule would basically make the Allens and Jacksons of this world easy to tackle... This would pretty much limit team to great pocket QBs and also end the running QBs futures in this league... Not happening.

The issue is the lack of consistency, Tua gets thrown and tossed to the ground - no flag, Brady is taken to the ground by Garret in what looks a textbook takedown and is flagged. Nobody else sees Teddy stumble - taken out of the game, and in the same game Berrios is on knee, in discomfort and takes off his helmet after a huge collision and nothing. Whatever the rule is the refs should be applying it within a range of consistency.
