NFL and DirecTV agree to new 8 year deal for Sunday Ticket

well looks like i will be staying with them for quite a while still

Call me crazy. But has having the Redzone sort of made the Directv NFL ticket package almost useless...

I have to stay with DTV for another EIGHT YEARS! Ugh....

For me, I'd never subscribe to the Redzone channel. I enjoy watching more than just teams getting into the redzone. 50 yard completions or crazy runs dont happen in the redzone.

Obviously you have never watched the RZC. If you had you would know they have a lot of fill time and use it showing games that no one is in the red zone or replays of big plays.

NFL's greed is blinding them to perhaps more lucrative venues. They would make a killing if they teamed up with YouTube

Across the pond streaming here I come. :foundout:

DirecTV just isn't worth the price. The Sunday Ticket is far inferior to the Game Pass that the NFL only broadcasts overseas. To many free alternatives and you can purchase Game Rewind far cheaper.

In 8 years DirecTV will be a DINOSAUR. It already is by today's standards. It's an old technology company that would be DEAD without the NFL. That's why they paid 50% more for the contract than they did last time - they know that they would be done without the ticket.

most people will just take your word for this, but having worked in communications for the last 10 years i know you're just talking out of your ass.

Meh. Having to pay for a bunch of channels and service that I don't need just to watch NFL games is a waste of money. Really wish NFL would get with the times and offer more online streaming options to the US.

OK, then rather than just insulting me, why don't you explain how a company based on such an archaic model will be a viable form of content distribution a decade from now?

I work on the other side of the coin, so perhaps that is tainting my perception of it, but if you have some viable arguments to be made for DirecTV's business model, I am all ears...

Or even offered tiered packaging. Maybe a team package or a regional package. I really only have time to watch the fins nowadays as opposed to making watching football all day event like I used to and even that is pushing it. Wish I didn't have to pay for the the entire package when I really don't have time to use it. Still cheaper than going to the sports bat unless I was willing to be a cheapskate and drink water and eat free peanuts.

I am disapointed by this myself. I actually like DTV and have been with them for years but I rather not feel like I need to stay with them if I want to watch miami play.

More competition would bring the price down for us and the profits up for the NFL. There has to be more to it.. It just make sto much sense for the NFL not to allow other to broadcast all their games..

Perhaps FOX and NBC have a say in this?
