IMO, a vast majority of NFL coaches do not have a good understanding of when to go for a 2 pt conversion and when not to. Today's game was a PRIME example.
The Jets chased points the entire second half and it cost them dearly. Had they just settled for the extra point on their final 3 TD's (assuming they converted them) they would have only been down 2 points on their final drive. Assuming the Dolphins would not have went for 2 had the Jets been kicking their XP's all along, then they would have been down 3 and the Jets likely would have tied the game at the end. Thanks you for being stupid, Rex Ryan.
Lastly, Sparano's decision to go for 2 was almost equally bad. While he says the "chart" says to go for 2 with an 11 point lead ... I beg to differ. When you have the opportunity to force the other team to try to score TWO touch downs in order to beat you .... you take advantage of it.
Very, very dumb decision by Sparano. This coaching staff has been slowly losing my confidence in their decision making the past few weeks.
Anyone else feel the same?
