Haven't seen it posted so I thought I'd share:
There are some people around football who believe the Miami Dolphins won the offseason coaching carousel with the acquisition of Nick Saban- and Peyton Manning-disciple Adam Gase, who already has added a professional sheen to the Dolphins -- and they desperately needed it. After spending lavishly in free agency over the past few seasons, the club fired its head coach a quarter of the way into the 2015 season -- a move that can sometimes set a franchise back more than one lost season. Gase doesn't seem overwhelmed by the project. During the preseason, he unveiled a simpler offense that should play to the strengths of quarterback Ryan Tannehill and his best receivers. While Jarvis Landry may not be considered a true No. 1, he is talented enough to move the sticks on a consistent basis, and the "dink-and-dunk" system will ensure that he racks up plenty of catches. This won't be a group teams can look past anymore.

A simpler offense. LOL.

I'm so sick of "dink and dunk" system nonsense. That's the entire NFL. Everybody throws most of their passes less than 10 yards. The Cheatriots are considered geniuses for doing it. If anything this system has already shown it'll be more downfield and more complex than before. Who do they get to write this idiotic drivel?

I get that we have not been better than average for a long time. I get that we have had scandals. I get that we have had false-dawns. I get that we have a new coach. But sometimes, people just look at past results and stop using their brains. It's as if they are scared to think ... and just go safe and stay safe.

For instance, in that article is a short video of the "Move The Sticks" podcast with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks. They ranked the teams in the division in the following categories: QB, Skill Positions, OL, Defensive Front Seven, Secondary, and Coaching. They ranked the Patriots #1 in every category, and the Dolphins last in every category except Defensive Front Seven where we edged out the Bills to grab 3rd, and OL ... where they inexplicably thought that Laremy Tunsil would single-handedly propel us to the 2nd ranked OL in the division. Ummm What?!?!?!?!? So they seem to be in complete agreement that Tyrod Taylor is the clear #2 QB in the division. They are in complete agreement that Rex Ryan is a better coach than Adam Gase. It's pretty funny actually. Had Gase gone to the Jets, I'm pretty sure he would have been the 2nd best coach in the division according to the media. Had the Bills picked up Suh, I'm pretty sure they'd be listing them as the 2nd best DL. And until New England loses the division, they'll keep ranking them as the best in every category ... because it's safe.

We have had the worst offensive line in the league since Tannehill became quarterback. I am sure the playbook will feature more deep throws once the offensive line proves itself, but these short passes not only make it easier on the offensive line, but they give confidence to Tannehill.

give it time, the deep throws will be there.

isnt it a much more complex O?

Also - no debate is needed re. Landry, he is not a no1 receiver.

I see these things as word games. In general, there are only 3 options - good, average, bad. There is no "unknown" option because it's hard to justify a grade for an "unknown." Thus, "unknowns" are thrown in with "bad" and ranked accordingly. Gase is example one. But, I'm also surprised at the OL rank. Unless the 2 OLs worse than Miami's are REAL bad. Personally, I think the OL will be good once it gets in sync, but I'd have to grade it as "unknown" for now. I don't get the love for TT. Not saying he's a bad QB but I don't see a QB who can be successful as a 'standard' NFL QB. And at some point, he'll have to be.

I'm not worried about the amount of long throws. I'm just tired of anybody who had a short passing attack being labeled as dink and dunk. Especially when Tannehill was 11th in air passing yards (yards minus YAC) and 9th in deep ball percentage. Not amazing but certainly not poor. I think so much gets blown out of proportion because of yards per attempt.

Landry will be a #1 in terms of targets. He was 6th in the entire NFL with 167 targets

Which rational football fan wouldn't? You could easily argue that Tannehill is the worst QB in the division.

Okay, you've just outed yourself as a know-nothing.

No one on Earth thinks Ryan Fitzpatrick is better than Ryan Tannehill, to say nothing of the overrated Tyrod Taylor, a guy that I like and predicted would win the job in Buffalo and do well.

Maybe nyjunc thinks Fitzpatrick is better but that's a Jets fan with an agenda against Tannehill

I don't put a lot of stock into the opinions of people who are paid to post here.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this plays out this year. In actuality, they could all end up being in the top half of league. Fitz another year in offense with WRs, same for Taylor, and Tanny with better line play and new coach/offense, and just reaching his prime (in theory)

I'll make sure to bring up this post after this season. You might be surprised how right I am.
