NFL.com- "Miami's outfit feels directionless. They lack difference-making units..."

Miami needs to win. Nothing more needs to be said even though we say this **** every ****ing year. Win and these articles won't need to be written.

That changes when you have a flagship type player. Usually that means a franchise QB.
This season rests on RT's shoulders. It's that simple.

I don't agree with that statement about the offense, but the defense feels a little "directionless". Where are the turnovers guys? Wasn't that the big focus since Philbin got here? Why is that not materializing? We have a great d-line that gets good pressure and sacks so where are all the fumbles and lame duck throws into the secondary? It seems like we are almost always getting good pressure but not getting anything from it.

You know, I've learned to completely ignore what the hot air bags in the national media say. But if our staff has any kind of gumption at all, they should be posting all this crap incessantly throughout the building. Hell, start off team meetings with this.

Yep. Remember the days of Marino where every year the analysts picked us to go to the super bowl? How I miss those days! Even though I can hardly remember them anymore.

Grimes/Wake??? Hell, throw Clay and Vernon in there too.

I agree. Directionless is a good word. Maybe Lazor will fix that, I hope so.
However, when you look at Philbin, any look, any picture, I see directionless.
We need wins and the first game must be a win to show that we have changed.

Have said it since early last season... no identity...no direction...no leadership...no consistent play-makers....not enough points for and too many against

I haven't seen anything YET in preseason to change ANY of those intangibles...I hope it's because the coaches have decided to wait until the season starts to unveil the team we all have been wanting

The closest thing I can remember is when Surtain and Madison played. I remember listening to Patrick Surtain on the radio talking on Jim Rome's show. Miami was 7-1 at the time I believe and people wanted to hear what Surtain had to say b/c Miami was consistently good (not great) then.

Long long time ago.

Kind of what I've been saying. We're definitely not doomed and can easily pull off a couple of 8-8 or 9-7 seasons with Philbin & Co. but this franchise needs to draft an immediate, young difference maker; most of our difference makers are old free agents acquired by the team. Add in the fact that we don't necessarily have an identity, offense is average and defense is above average, its easy to see why a lot of people peg us for 4 and 5 wins although we're better than that.
