NFL.com seems to have had Ginn nailed to a tee.
Hopefully the light will come on and he will at least
prove he can play decent at the NFL level never mind what is expected out of the number 9 pick.

Ginn has a wiry build with a lean frame, split high with long legs, lacking the bulk or strength to consistantly beat press coverage...Plays with suddeness,
but lacks the lateral agility to come out of his breaks cleanly and needs to improve his footwork;especially stop and go action.

Instinctive returner, but needs to vary his speed when running routes.
While he is explosive in the open field, his concentration tends to be inconsistent as he hears the sounds of defenders footsteps working over the middle.

Must do a better job securing the ballon receptions before turning upfield.
Lacks the strength to power his way through the pressand needs to be more active with his hands on release.Must be more alert working underneath.

Moves well left and right ,but shows only adequate hip snap on lateral moves.Sometimes his speed gets him into trouble he may miss cuts or look sloppy trying to plant and drive. His cuts look choppy and he looks tight in his hips making body turns.

Looks to stiff in his hips when moving laterally,so he is not a great multi-cut
runner. Not much of a red zone threat; He had only 6 passes thrown to him
in that area through 37 games.

Ginn appears to be a quality return specialist who can contribute some as a receiver rather than a receiver who can contribute as a return specialist.
He is effective on quick slants and screens but with his lack of strength
and inability to defeat the press,he will struggle to get a clean release
and into his routes at the next level.

He seems hesitant to go over the middle as a receiver and tends to lose concentration when he hears defenders footsteps.Still he is an electrifying
return specialist.Just don't ask Ginn to run lateral routes into a crowd.

thanks to nfl.com

That absolutley does not sound like a player that should have been taken 9th overall. Who was in our scouting department, Stevie Wonder?

Stevie and before that Ray Charles for YEARS :shakeno:

Nah, Forrest Gump, Gomer Pile and the founder, user and president of the Hair Club for Men :D

Guys stop with the bashing of Ginn. Didn't you all know that he has a wonderful family? I hear his mom makes the best apple pie, his family really played a big role in us drafting him. Who needs a franchise QB when you can have PIE and John Beck??

That sounds about right. This is quite possibly the worst 9th pick in the History of the NFL. He will never ever be an elite receiver, and you can quote me on that.

Thanks for a good laugh :sidelol::up:

I call this the Devin Hester syndrome. Everyone was all over Devin Hester because of what he did that year and in Cam Cameron's mind he probably saw that his impact changed the outcome of games and he reached for an average player. I think he's money in the return game but he needs to get his WR skills in check.

But when TGJ gets his first 100 yard game when he has a real QB, everyone will start saying they knew he wasnt a bust. Get real.

I'm going to mark that article to quote when people start calling me negative because I'm critical of him. Seems people had him spot on before the draft. It's not the guy's fault he was drafted #9 overall, but, that tag is going to dog him.

Jimmany christmas Cam was a knucklehead. I usually throughly enjoy the draft and watch all day, all weekend. I went back to bed after that pick and, I'm not even kidding.

I'm with you on that. He's a Dolphin so I'll root for him to be great, but I just can't see any greatness in this kid, and that hurts considering we spent a top 10 pick on him.

What do we gain by labeling the guy a bust. He is very explosive, one of the fastest players in the NFL and he has already showed us TDs in the return game. Why not give him time to develope with the hope that he'll turn into a pretty good reciever. Right now we do not have a QB to fire out long passes and he's in a new system with a new coach again so why not give the kid a break. You guys amaze me. It takes most recievers 3 years to make the adjustment to the pro game so why not give a guy that's a quality guy, busting his tail to get better every day for our favorite team a fair chance to elevate his game.

Some players are drafted more for their potential than what they did in College....
some refer to these as "project players"

Ted Ginn is the definition of this...

We gain satisfaction by being able to vent our frustrations over the team's ridiculous decision to take him in the top 10. That's probably the only satisfaction we will ever get in relation to Ginn.

Also, in the NFL, pure speed doesn't matter that much. Sure, you need elements of speed to be able to succeed, but having it doesn't make you a good football player. The level of competition is high enough that guys have to actually excel at the smaller things in the game to be succesful.
