Pick: Second round/44th overall
He's an ideal fit for the offense that gave us the "Wildcat" last season. With his tremendous versatility and explosiveness, the former West Virginia standout provides the Dolphins' strategists with all sorts of possibilities as a passer, runner, and receiver. He should have plenty of opportunities to make an impact as a rookie, either on his own or as a complement to other playmakers.

I like White and i think he will prove to be worthy of our 2nd round pick!This kid can do so many things and is going to give the defense fits!
 
pat white is the second worst pick in dolphins history only to the eddie moore pick. with that said if the dolphins are going in this direction just get vick, or draft teabow next year both of which are better athletes and better qb. don't get me wrong i don't wont vick or teabow just saying

Ummm second worst?:lol2: Do i need to start a list of 1st & second round bust in Miami's past 10 years? Give the guy a chance!
 
Here is a thought, whos to say that the wildcat wont be implemented 100 percent of the time next season. Maybe that is the fins agenda, see who wins the battle between Henne and White and if White wins then we will run that formation almost every down. If Henne wins then White is the gadget backup for the wildcat. Like someone else already said above, White is accurate for a runner. There is a strong chance he can win, he has just as good of chance of winning that job next year then Henne does. I just cant believe the first time in a long long long time that im excited about all of our QB's on roster. Its a great time to be a fin fan guys, we are in for an exciting year to say the least.

wow where do i start? To call Pat White second worst pick in dolphins history is just ignorant. Especially with as many of the crappy draft picks weve had here in recent years.

Vick nor Tebow is as accurate as White. Vick is better than White in that hes faster and he has better agility. Vick def has the stronger arm but his accuracy is not as good as White.

Now Tebow has a good arm but he also isnt as accurate as White. What Tebow brings to the table that White doesnt is that hes able to pound it thru the middle AKA the Gator Heavy formations. I believe White is more Agile and Faster than Tebow.

Each one has their own thing they are good at. Please dont not call White a bust. Its just not a fair assuption.

PS another good wildcat QB to watch out for next year. Heads up on MATT GROTHE from USF, the kid is a baller! Go Bulls
 
The truth is many of the 2009 top 10 rookies are on no list anywhere right now. Some fifth round choice or UFA will surprise us all. We will see how the rooks adapt to the Not For Long league only when they strap it on for real... Was Colston on anyones impact rookie list?

White = Steve young. Both good QB that can actually run. I dont know why some dispise this pick, we have 2 good potential QB's back there, IMO White brings more to the table. If all White could do is run and throw ok then fine i think it sux but WHITE IS ACCURATE QB. I will take a player that has the accuracy of Chad Penn and the legs of Vick any day. But then again it is all on how the FO precieves white and how they want the offense run. Wildcat should be our forever formation if White is to win out gives D's a head ache like no one could believe. White all the way baby!....Yes im on the White bandwagon lol. Not to say i dont like Henne cause i think the kid is great passer any way.

I thought there were greater needs on this team and I thought that they reached a little in drafting him with the 1st of their 2 2nd rd picks. BUT, I think he's a very good and versatile player.
To say that he's the 2nd worst pick in Phins history before the guy has even played a down in the NFL is just shortsighted and biased.
Let's see: John Bosa, Jackie Shipp, Billy Milner, John Avery, Jason Allen, JJ Johnson and that's just at the top of my head.
 
worst pick??? are u crazy?? the worst pick by the miami dolphins came in 1997 with their first round pick, which was the #15 selection, when they chose wide reciever YATIL GREEN....in his career i believe he didn't score a single touchdown for the dolphins
 
I like that people aren't limiting White to any one position. I think he can be a tool. Where we want him, he can play. If we want him as our Tackle-Tight end in the WC, he cna play there. If we want him in the backfield next to Ronnie, he will play. He can take the snap and line up at WR too!

My hope is that he is a more explosive Jim Jensen type of player.

That's it. Don't try to win this year, let's wait till next year. What a great idea. NOT!!!!
 
I've seen White play in person several times and I saw Pennington in person numerous times. I love Pat White's scrambling, running, and desire to will his team to victory. He was much more responsible for WVUs high winning percentage than star running backs Slayton or Devine. He actually has a fairly strong arm, good delivery, and decent pocket instincts. He also seems to be a quality individual. BUT - He is not near the passer Pennington was/is. He doesn't read pass defenses as well and doesn't have the same timing, accuracy, or touch.
I still think he could make a decent NFL every down QB. He is an excellent choice to run the Wildcat. I like the decision to draft him. I just don't see him beating out either Chads for the starting QB job. It will be Pennington, then Henne, then White unless injury changes things.
Not a bad trio to choose from!
