NFL/ESPN Reporting Browns In Trade Talks With Chiefs For Green

I'm watching NFL Network and the news flash broke in, and I also caught a quick spot on it on ESPN. It said the word right now is that Cleveland and KC are talking about possible trades for Trent Green.

I hope they sign him, they are our biggest Quinn threat IMO. Ideally I'd like Green and Quinn, but if we can only have one I'll take Quinn and let the coaches be the mentors. Hopefully this means they are looking to Green as a temporary fix and mentor for either Frye or a later round QB. There is already talk about the Browns looking elsewhwere in round 1 (as in not QB) so this trade going through would put more weight behind it, because they can then go QB later on.

Well thats good and bad IMO. While that better our chances at getting Quinn, Green was the best outta Carr and Culpepper to be the Vet that Quinn sits behind and learns from. Awell as long as we get Quinn I could live with Carr or maybee Quinn starting from day 1.

The Miami Herald has already reported that although Cleveland and Detroit have expressed interest in Green, his representative has only spoken with the Miami Dolphins and trade discussions are ongoing.

As far as it being bittersweet, it definately is. Like I said before, ideally we'd have Green start a year or two while mentoring Quinn. However, if it were one or the other I'd definately pick Quinn and let the coaches be his mentor until maybe a different veteren presence can be brought it (not Carr, as he needs mentoring himself).

I understand that and apoligize if I came off as being sarcastic or condescending.

I'm all for moving up to get Quinn as long as we don't give up too much and/or could also get a starting O-Lineman as well.

I think Green will do whatever he has to to be a Dolphin. Kind of like when Harrington refused to renogotiate his contract when the Lions were going to trade him to the Browns. In the end I think we'll end up with him, probably for a conditional 6th or 7th round pick.

Not currently, but I think Quinn is a player who isn't going to need a lot of veteren presence anyway. He seems like one of those guys who could get better if he HAD it but doesn't NEED it. He is already a great player and is just going to need some polish when he gets to the NFL, time to adjust to the difference. The coaches can work with him on all that, and if a veteren doesn't become available then Quinn and Culpepper (ew) and Lemon battle it out in camp. A rookie Brady Quinn can't be any worse than Culpepper's performance last year, and Lemon was very uninspiring.

i dont think the browns are the biggest threat. i think they are going after AP. cuz why would they only sign lewis for 1 year? i think it is just to help AP adjust to the NFL. they will split time this season and then they will think of resigning lewis if it works good this year. i think detroit is our biggest threat. if he drops past detroit i am pretty sure he will fall to miami. all the other teams have there "franchise" QB that they spent a 1 or 2 round pick on. but i dont know if detroit will take another QB first round cuz what happen to joey. they might go after calvin or thomas. its less risky or they could trade down and even take stanton 2 round. i am pretty confident in quinn coming to miami and being a good QB.

It actually means they probably will draft Quinn. They don't have veteran qb currently to mentor him. There is no amount of shifting or shuffling that will drop Quinn to #9. So you join a 12 step program, and come to grips with reality.

Bingo ! I'm glad somebody else sees the logical progression here. Unless a team is completely willing to pay Green his full contract, he holds all the keys on where he's going. I somehow doubt Cleveland is willing to take on all of Green's 7.2 mil. contract (even if they can afford it). They'll want him to restructure and he doesn't have to do that. Teams can talk to KC all they want, but unless they get Green and his agent to work a deal . . . . . it's Joey all over again!!!!

Them getting Green could also be that they are not enamored with Frye and Anderson and they still could take Green, giving Quinn a year to develop....

I think them trading for Green doesn't mean they won't go after Quinn...either way, even if they don't, someone will either jump over us or take him ahead of us...Minnesota or even Atlanta could make that move and feel justified in doing so...
