If the trainer see's a player they deem to be disoriented or possibly at risk they can now stop the clock to go on the field and check on the player's well being.
In an unrelated story the Patriots have began taking acting classes to appear woozy in the final two minutes of games that they no longer have timeouts so their trainer can stop the clock and give the kicker time to run on the field to kick a winning field goal. I can see it now Brady completes a 50 yard pass and wobbles around in a circle with eight seconds left on the clock. The Patriots trainer stops the clock and says "Brady looked disoriented. I did it for his safety." Patriots defeat the Dolphins 24-23. Patriots claim it it's not cheating, it's just using the rules in your favor.

Belicheat is already on it.....

No doubt this will be abused in someway. Likely by the Patriots

It's been more than 30 years and I still haven't got over the snow plow incident.

Well if our trainers use them up then Philbin cant use them in the final two minutes, Win for Miami.

Joe will make sure the team's trainer takes the TO exactly when the opponent is on the ropes.

I remember a few years ago when three college players suddenly dropped on the field pretending to be injured. I guess each of them saw the coach signal for the move and didn't realize the other players saw the signal too.

this will be abused by everybody!!!!

does it count as an official TO towards the team?
this will mess up games at times

Good, maybe the trainer will use his timeout when we actually need one! He could've called one when philbin got woozy on that third down against gb! Or later when wheeler looked woozy seconds before he got burned for the gw td.

Sadly, before reading your post, the thread title made me think of exactly the same thing...how are the cheatriots going to exploit this rule? I think that's the real question.

As already said, this rule is going to get abused. They need to add something like a discretionary 10 second run off. I could see a trainer calling a timeout to save a real timeout if a defense is not lined up properly too. Edit: I just thought maybe they can also add something like all players on the field besides the injured one have to stay on the field until the clock starts up again, so i.e. if there's 10 seconds left in a game and a team with no timeout's trainer calls timeout to retrieve a player, all the other players must remain at the line of scrimmage until the clock starts again, so any last second attempt to get a field goal kicker on the field or something would still be a fire drill.

Another great rule created by Roger and his wonderful crew
