Can someone please explain this dispute between the NFL and the NFLPA in laymen terms?

Fight is over how the money is split up. How to cut up the pie. NFL players are happy with the current system. Owners want more $$ and a bigger cut of the pie. Hence, they will lock the players out next March.
The ONLY saving grace is this 18-game season. 2 more games means MORE $$$$$$ in everyones pocket. If the players agree, the extra revenue could be given to the owners as extra revenue. Players would get some concessions as in expanded rosters for every team, hence more players have jobs. Meaning the union collects dues from more players. WIN-WIN for everyone involved.
