NFL Live: Who should the Dolphins take w/ the #1 pick?

just saw this on espn nfl live. they had a short debate on what we should do w/ our #1. basically, john clayton and the former NFL player both agreed that we should take jake long, especially after releasing shelton, and after seeing what joe thomas did for the browns last year. Todd McShay (head of Scouts, Inc) believes we should take Chris Long, especially if Jason Taylor is not in our future plans. He also said that c long, j long, and m ryan are all safe picks w/ the #1 as they are most definitely the best players in the draft.

Thoughts?
 
I like Vernon Gholston over Chris Long.

There is no way I would pay a Offensive Tackle #1 money.
 
Well good thing the Dolphins will be paying him. Because I don't want to pay him either.
 
Chris long! Mcshay, is an idiot! Matt Ryan is not a safe pick. Gholston has upside, but isnt fluent in his hips. mortensen said that ghoston is the closest things to lawrence taylor in this draft. yet, advisors say chris long is the closests thing to taylor. All I know is Chris Long, pressured the quarterback everyplay. Top Offensive Lineman? what about dbrickshaw? give me a break, I know about this draft than these guys... I mean what about the triple teams that chris was man handling? ESPN EQUALS GARBAGE!!!!!!!!
 
Gholston Is A Beast But He Does Not Have The Same Kind Of Motor That Chris Long Has. Out Of Our Many Needs Left Tackle Is Our Most Important. Jake Long Would Be A Nice Fill In But For 1st Pick Money? I Dunno. I Like Chris Long Take A Look At His Genes (howie Long) Hall Of Fame Defensive End. Wrap It Up The Draft Is Real Deep With O-lineman We Can Use Our Two Seconds For An Ot And An Og. Lets Take Chris Long, Then Lt And Lg. We Would Be Looking Good.

Gholston is safer than Ryan. Ryan doesnt become a safe pick unless he is drafted in the later part of the round.. 1st overall though, its the riskiest pick available.
 
Dont want Ryan because we have a QB by the name of John Beck.

Dont want to pay J. Long big money after what happend with Gallery. I dont believe in taking linemen in the top five-ten anymore.

Gholston or Chris Long. I love them both. Could Gholston be Demarcus Ware? But could Chris Long could also be something special? I dont know, its so hard to choose, thank god I am not BP with the number one overall pick.

Some people think that just because his father was a great player that he will be. I am not saying you are one of those people who think that but I dont think it has much to do genes. Look at Jarrett Payton, Walter's son, he isnt even in the league anymore I believe.
 
Trading down isn't happening so let that one go. The pick is either Chris Long, Jake Long, or Matt Ryan. Bottom Line. Vernon Gholston was a workout warrior and I am not saying he will be a bust but he couldn't hold Chris Long's jock.

I disagree about Matt Ryan. I think he is defiantly a safe pick and the ONLY franchise QB in the draft. I'd take gim over Leinart, Vince Young, Cutler, Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, and Phil Rivers who were rcent 1st Round Picks.

Jake Long is awesome. A lot of people said he was not in Joe Thomas' league, I beg to differ.

Chris long is just the F'N man.

the guy is a beast - we've all seen it. gholston - 1st rounder for sure, but way too many ? for #1 overall. c long - if he gains 30 lbs - take him. if JT goes or JP moves inside - take him. if not - we have 0 use for him.

there really are no ? with JL. the only decent debate against taking him is the whole is a LT worth #1 money? i say yes if there is no trade down scenario.

Really? I wouldnt take him over any of those except Leinart and Russell.

What happend to the whole Jake Long not being able to handle fast pass rushers? Did we get rid of that question?
