Probably top 20 back then. But he also wasn’t as highly rated as downs as a sophomore. Dudes that ball as true sophomores are usually seriously impactful pros. Generational types.

Where did I ever mention Reese at all except in my immediately preceding post noting that he could be a top pick IF he's a full-time pass rusher??? I just wrote about safeties and linebackers without mentioning your boy Reese or anyone else. Maybe you should go back and read what I actually wrote, instead of what you seem to think I wrote.

Knowing what he turned into he goes top 5 or 10, much like downs will next spring most likely.
 
Downs is the kind of player that could have sat out this year like those sophs did their junior year during COVID and he’d still go top 10 easy.

Like parsons and chase. All the boxes checked on sophomore tape.

Your'e absolutely right, since we were talking about Reese and you said LB I made that assumption, which LB are you referring to that's going top 5 possibly?
 
As far as hindsight . . . it's 20/20 and I wear glasses. I think Julius Peppers and Dwight Freeney still go ahead of him. But if I had the 3rd pick then, knowing what I know now . . . I'd have traded down to 23 and grabbed him just before the Ravens. 😛

The problem with drafting a safety in the first is that he HAS to be Ed Reed in order for the pick to break even on value. Very, VERY few safeties provide anywhere near enough value to be worth 20m/year, and yet... teams reach for safeties every year (dumb teams).

If Downs goes top 10, he'd better put up 8 Int/year... every year and put the fear of God into ever WR who comes into his area, because if he doesn't... you've passed on a more important position.

Peppers became kinda more hype than substance as a pro. He lasted forever but was kinda overrated too.

Freeney was an assassin. Pin ears finisher.
 
Freeney was kinda opportunistic too cause teams would be chasing the scoreboard vs the colts with manning and he’d eat as a pure pass rusher. Those colts ds were always pretty average til they got leads late and could pin ears. And finish.

No, YOU were talking about Reese. I wasn't talking about anyone specifically. I also didn't mention any specific QBs, Tackles, CBs, etc. IMO, that's a 100% PURE waste of time at this point when we don't even have the first damn clue about the draft order. I just noted that
safeties and linebackers rarely impact teams. QB, offensive tackle, center, pass rusher, cornerback should be the top picks IF there is a special player available at that position when you get to draft. Otherwise, trade down.

This is 2026 Mock Draft thread, not an Arvell Reese thread, however much you might want to turn it into one.
 
The guy I like on that Miami team is the freshman wr. He’s gonna be a murder 2 way go slot pro.
