Just reported on NFL network that the phins are interested in free-agent Chris Hope previously on the Steelers.

Solid mentally - good feel for the game. Does a solid job of reading routes and closing forward from center-field. He only has average size but very good strength for the position. He is a better hitter than tackler - hits with force and can play with a mean streak. Good overall AA - shows solid hips, quickness and COD. Shows good overall play speed and can cover ground from center-field to sideline. He takes solid angles in run support - will come across the field and make plays. Though he is a big hitter, he needs to be more consistent to wrap up and finish. He is a very regimented player - can look mechanical with his reads and reactions. He is a steady player, but he does not come up with enough big or explosive type plays from the FS position.

thnx for that but were is the article that said the fins are interested is it true that he is in miami right now

I just saw it on TV (NFL Network). I believe that it said that the phins were among teams that were interested and that he was going to start making his rounds. Not sure if/when he will visit miami.

Doesn't sound like a starting caliber player. He'll be good for depth.

He was starting caliber for a SB champion.

Everything I've heard was that he was dumb as a rock and Pittsburgh was glad to let him go. I don't really know anything about him, but I never really heard his name called out in any of those Pittsburgh games. He doesn't make any plays.

Did you watch last years playoffs and Super Bowl?? He started for a Super Bowl Champion, I think it's safe to say he will good enough for us, actually try great.

Sometimes not hearing his name is a good sign for a secondary player. I heard way too much of Reggie Howard's name last year, as in "Reggie Howard beaten deep again!"

Well he made more play than Polamalu, he had more pick & more tackles. If we get him and draft a good cb in the first round, our defense will in great shape, in fact our whole team will be in great shape

--Reggie Howard started for a Super Bowl Runner-up(Carolina)... I don't like that criteria.

I've heard good things about him and would like to have him. But just because he was a starter and a SB team doesn't make him great. Remember we got Reggie Howard, starting corner for the SB runner up Carolina Panthers.....didn't work out too well did it.

sorry Rich, that wasn't there when I posted

I'm not knocking Hope at all, but Reggie Howard was the starting LCB for the Carolina Panthers SB team before we got him...

Probably not a good analysis...

However, Hope is a decent safety and was certainly overshadowed by the play of Polamaolu...(sp)....

Hope was solid in the playoffs. You don't hear that much about him because Polamalu overshadows him. Nonetheless, IMO he'd be a great pick up for us.
