The one thing I love about the move with Bill is that it’s going to bring a new level of accountability,” said Evans. “With Sherman it was probably a lot of the same coaching patterns and habits for years. When you get with a new voice, you get different things that coaches are challenging you with.”

Evans has always been a big supporter of Tannehill because of his sound work ethic and high football intelligence. He sees him as a guy that’s smart from his pre-snaps reads on, and someone that can break down defenses well, which not all young quarterbacks can do at a high level.

“Ryan Tannehill sees the field well,” said Evans. “The reason why I’ve praised Ryan so thoroughly is that’s what you see. You don’t see the same mistakes twice. You see his ability to kind of grasp what defenses are throwing at him, and that’s really what separates quarterbacks.”

“It’s certainly a critical year, and we’ve seen improvement since he’s gotten into the league, and I feel like this year will be a big step forward for him,” said Rapoport. “The offensive line will be better, so that helps. You want to go out and spend money in free agency, go out and spend money to make sure you’re quarterback is protected. I like what the Dolphins did there signing the premier left tackle on the market in Branden Albert.”

“I think Ryan Tannehill is a better athlete than Nick Foles, so he gives them a better dynamic playmaker at that position in terms of when they run some of that read option stuff, when they do some of the screen game, and when they do some of the things that are tenants of the spread offense,” said Brooks.

This will actually accelerate his development because it will put him in a very easy comfort zone in terms of making it a friendly quarterback system,” said Brooks. “If he can handle it particularly operating at that pace, I think we can finally see Ryan Tannehill flourish as the starting quarterback of the Dolphins

When has Heath Evans ever said any thing good about the Dolphins before?

He survived zero weapons as a rookie. Then he survived a comically bad offensive line with better but still not great weapons. Now with what should be decent weapons and what could be a good o-line he should take a giant leap forward.

I've always hated Evans for how he always bashed Miami.. Not sure what to think about him now?!! I think I still hate him:up:

Evans has always been complimentary of RT. He just hates the team in general.

In theory, Tannehill should take a big step this season. He has a decent oline, good blocking and receiving back (Moreno) and a possession receiver (hartline), deep threat receiver (Wallace) and someone not afraid to catch the ball in the middle (Landry) plus Clay as a security blanket. I just don't see how he cannot improve unless the offense can't grasp the new scheme.

I definitely still hate him. One decent report out of his bumbling mouth does not make up for years of simply horrendous, bottom of the barrel and horribly inaccurate reporting on the Dolphins. Screw Heath Evans!

A lot of fin fans feel that way, but to be honest most of what he has said has been fairly accurate. Saying the dolphins offense was going to be bad every year in the offseason isn't brain surgery. We haven't had a top 5 offense since the Elvis was touring the country. Some times truth is hard to hear. I think it's no doubt that the fins are not one of his favorite teams, and he enjoys telling the truth when he knows it will be hard to hear, but at least when he really believes we will be better he is proving he can tell what he believes when he has to say good things about us as well.

People seem very sure we're going to have a great oline this year. Any line with three total newbies on it is a big question mark. Expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

Don't be fooled, comrades. He's just trying to throw us off the scent of the very real nation-wide media conspiracy to all be hypercritical of the Dolphins for no apparent reason whatsoever.

You're exactly right, I'm sure Cleveland fans think everybody is a "hater" too, as did KC fans and Seattle fans before they respectively turned it around, but when you consistently put manure out on the field year after year after year then you should expect analysts to predict your team will continue to suck and blow until proven otherwise.

I agree 100%. The only returning starter from last season is Pouncey so we will actually have 4 new guys. None of them have played together so it is realistically going to take the first 6-8 games for these guys to jell into a cohesive unit. The talent is there but it's going to take some time and growing pains early on to fully solidify as a unit. I don't think many people are giving that enough consideration and as a result will be seriously disappointed early on.

Agree. This line should be better but it may take a third of the season for them to gel and play well. So while I would like to see Tannehill make that big jump, we have to survive the early part of the season and keep him as clean as possible.

HEath Evans is an asshole
