I live in AZ and our cable company is about to move the NFLN to a sports tier package. It has a lot of folks upset out here and I was wondering if cable customers anywhere else are also in an uproar about it.

Here's a funny video of a lady who's REALLY upset about it: :fire:

Anyone else notice that the lady is wearing what looks to be a Chargers throwback jersey but her daughter is in a Fins jersey? I hope it was at the game where we kicked their butts the week before they beat an undefeated Indy!

My cable company used to offer it as a sports tier package but they dropped it from even that about a year ago :(

Yeah, I heard this was going to happen. This is just another way for the cable companies to get more money. You guys with cable should consider switching to Directv. NFL Network is part of the basic package and I think it's the only company that the NFL Sunday Ticket can be purchased on. Totally worth it to me.

I'm a Time Warner customer, and TW is still (at least as far as I know) at an impasse with the NFL over NFLN because TW wants to put it on a sports tier and the NFL wants it offered as part of the basic package. I'm more than willing to pay extra for it because I don't want to give up cable because 1) I want to get the Sabres games and 2) I like to have the local weather and weather radar from the Weather Channel in the mornings before I go to work (especially in the winter when I have to decide whether to take the car or the 4 wd truck) and 3) TW provides the only local TV news/sports/weather programming since Jamestown doesn't have its own broadcast TV station and 4) I have 5 TVs which raises the satellite TV price equivalent to cable.

I'm hoping this means that TW will be offering a sports tier with NFLN.

Kinzua, thanks for the info. I want to switch to satellite but those are all things I need to consider before making the change. I thought satellite carried hockey games. My bro. has DirectTV in NC and he gets local channels and hockey games - not only the Hurricanes but sometimes also the Checkers.

I hope TW is better @ keeping their word than DonShula84's cable company. When NFLD was dropped from his sports tier, I imagine the cable company didn't lower his bill because they reduced his services. Funny how that works.

DonShula84 may have had Adelphia. That happened in the areas around Buffalo when Time Warner took over the Adelphia customers there -- and I imagine they did the same whenever they took over Adelphia customers (I think TW and Comcast divvied up Adelphia's territory).

Sabres games aren't offered on local broadcast stations only through MSG on cable, and I think it may be exclusive to TW, so satellite customers would have to ante up more for hockey -- but I'm not sure how that works.

I had adelphia and it was free....Now TW purchased Adelphia and its no longer available...I believe there is some on going litigation between NFLN and the cable companies over they are allowed to put it on the pay channels or some crap..I like my cable and dont want to give it up but its starting to piss me off.

I stopped dealing with the B.S. from the cable companies long ago....just get yourself a DirecTV dish. :)
