9) Dolphins: Dan Marino, Bob Griese, Ryan Tannehill

For a lot of us who watched pro football in the 1980s, we don't buy the revisionist historians who place John Elway over Marino. Outside of Montana, Marino was the guy to watch -- Isotoner gloves and all. Griese was generally considered a "game manager," but when asked, he could throw the deep ball and put his team in the best position to win. It's a barren wasteland after those two -- but hey, Tannehill has potential, and put together a fine overall campaign in 2014. He easily bests everyone for the three-spot on our list. Even Jay Fiedler.

the 49ers Steve Young and Joe Montana is hard to beat but I guess if you go trio, I would put the Colts at #1. Brett Farve was good but I don't love how much he turned the ball over. you have to protect the football a little better. but good list

I'd go Marino, Griese and Strock, or Marino, Griese and Morall, but hey, hopefully Tannehill proves me wrong before it's all done.

The reason we lose this trio is that we haven't been a good team or good at the QB position for so long that few people realize just how good Marino and Griese truly were.

Put a young Marino in today's league and he'd have 5 rings and there would be no doubt he was the best ever.

Top 3? Cowboys Roger Stauback, Danny White, and Troy Aikman

Chad Pennington easily at #3, even with just one season. Even David Woodley and Jay Fiedler accomplished more than Ryan Tanehill.

David Woodley? Career high 2470 yards on the season, in which he threw more INTs than TDs? Really? Only year he ever threw more TDs than INTs was one time in Pittsburgh...that's some accomplishments. The team carried him through the playoffs...I remember it well.

And Chad Pennington? Loved the guy, but seriously? Started one year and lost the only playoff game that year? Damn shame his shoulder couldn't hold up or I'd agree 100%.

Or are you saying team accomplishments, like making the playoffs, are THEIR accomplishments?

Any 3 out of these 4 have to rank right up there too for Oakland:

Lamonica, Stabler, Plunkett and Gannon. ... And probably would win the best "4-some" hands down.

lol. Someone needs to learn about the Miami Dolphins before commenting on them. Even Jets fans know more than this kid. So sad when one calls themselves a fan yet knows so little about the team

If Marino had gone to Frisco....and Montana Miami....Marino would have st least 5 rings...and may have gone undefeated in 84 with that great niner team.

David Woodley was not good at all. Neither was Jay Fiedler. One year of Pennington is not nearly enough.
