NFL referees and their age

Is it just me, or does it seem like the majority of NFL refs are a bunch of old men out there? Steve Smith from Carolina criticized one refs age on Sunday, I never really thought about it until I watched the MNF game last night and most of them out there we're senior citizens. What's up with that?

I guess they prefer veteran officials for games like that? I hate it too - the majority of the time, you're that old, you're not as spry, and you don't process things as easily. I'm still waiting for the NFL to bring a female referee to the game - they said there were a couple who were close to breaking through.

i have been thinking about that for months now, a bunch of old men trying to keep up with athletes. No wonder we get so many terrible calls.
