What does everyone think Goodell will do to us now that the contents of Wells report have been released ?

If you compare it to the most recent NFL "scandal" Bountygate with the Saints I have no doubt we are looking at getting punched in the stones. I believe the following will happen:

The team will be fined $500k, the maximum the NFL can fine a franchise for allowing this crap to happen, We will also be made examples of when the NFL bring in a new conduct code citing this mess as the (legitimate) justification.

We will more than likely be docked a draft pick (2nd Rounder this year and possibly next)

Jim Turner - Suspended for entire 2014 season (no loss, he is getting fired and we have our replacement already)

Richie Incognito - Suspended for entire 2014 season (no real issue because he is not coming back here)

John Jerry - Suspended for 4 games in 2014 (as above, he is a FA anyway and can be released)

Mike Pouncey - Suspended for 4 games in 2014 (Dolphins should also fine him internally but keep him on team)

Joe Philben will get a pass however will be put on notice by the league to ensure there is no repitition.

Clearing up the mess will be more difficult. We will not miss, Turner, Incognito and Jerry. Pouncey is a key player and if he can be redirected from his current path to jail he is in my view the only holdover from the offensive line. Ross should fine him internally and make him do some very public communty service to win back faith.

The big problem is going to be stink that this will leave. Free Agents and Draft targets particularly are going to be reluctant to come here unless we can very quickly and very publically right the ship.

Stephen Ross had the opportunity to blow this up 2 months ago and should have done so. Firing Philben and allowing one of the good GM candidates who were interviewed to rebuild things from the ground up would have at least sterilized the front office and coaching structure somewhat.

There is a big difference from bounty gate. In bounty gate there was a systematic flouting of NFL rules and a cover up from the highest levels of the New Orleans organization. Apples to oranges. Miami may get a fine and possibly a low draft pick but I doubt the pick would even happen. Ross has cooperated from the beginning and I think even asked for the NFL investigation. The organization didn't lie like New Orleans did.

I agree with your individual suspensions though. Pouncey for 4 games and community service sounds right. And he better be contrite and take it like a man or he is gone pronto.

Considering after what appears to be a more comprehensive, even-handed Hernandez investigation conducted by the impartial Rolling Stone Magazine

- where it revealed that from a management standpoint, at least Belicheat had knowledge of Hernandez's bad influences, paid lip-service to suggesting he extricate himself with no more club-oversight than that and surely knew what most of the players did that Hernandez was a chronic drug abuser who even got loaded on the way home from practice

.... the fact that there were no league sanctions for this "look the other way so long as he's helping us win," that might well have resulted in a homicide, any penalties levied against the Fins by comparison are unjust, hypocritical and reek of cronyism.

Any additional sanctions from the league against the Miami Dolphins would constitute "bullying" in itself.
The team has already paid a very high price publicly, and internally by firing Ireland and likely Turner..who was an active participant.
The league has a role in rehabilitating the franchise, not putting its foot on it's neck.
The team will be put on notice, that is the extent of the sanction as I see it.

If we get a pick taken away we will have a total of 5 picks this year, with 1 going to the McKinnie trade.... :bobdole:

This isn't anything like Bountygate. In NO they got caught trying to injure opposing players and were told to stop, they said they did, they didn't, lied to the league, and proceeded to continue trying to injure other players. Miami had an incident in the locker room similar to every other team in the league and one player broke. Miami did nothing to impede or obstruct investigation, created an internal group to review and address the issue, fired the GM, and are about to fire the position coach. One team cheated, lied, and essentially told the league to f-off. One team helped try to fix a problem most teams have but never address. Not the same at all.

I would agree.

However, what with the Dolphins do themselves is another question that needs to be answered.

Seems like a lot of overreaction going on
Any one else think the NFLPA report will paint a much different picture?

No draft picks....the players culpible should be penalized.

You don't take draft picks from a team when the management was not aware of the situation....as the report states. It also states Martin DID NOT inform them.

That would be like taking draft picks from a team when a player commits a personal foul on the field.

In that siuation you penalize the player....not the team.

The Saints situation and the Patriots situation were different in that THEY WERE aware of what was going on.

The Pats and Saints scandals originated at the coaching level. There was intent to gain unfair advantage. The Phins situation is entirely different as it originated with a small group of players and obviously did not given them any competitive edge. In fact, just the opposite.
The Wells report also mentions that JM never took these complaints to Philbin. Philbin was aware that he was depressed and worked with the organization and JM's family to get him professional help.
If Goodell is corrupt enough to take away draft pick, then the NFL loses me (and my money) as a fan.

I would say no draft picks removed, but then again I have seen Goodell do some crazy things.

Not crazy, just corrupt and biased against certain teams.

there was nothing wrong with that trade. 7th rounders rarely make a diff.

goodell only cares about one thing. perception and covering the NFL's azz.

It wouldnt surprise me if he took a pick away. If he does, I believe the Miami Dolphins should def fight it.

ok two things.
