NFL Statement regarding Garbage call..

Yah well the favour swayed to the oficial refs any way you look at it - and the way the loast quarter was called against the OPACK one would think that a few refs were in on some gambling scheme - I mean wowo that roughing the passer that call on DB Shields was horrible considering the WR interdfered over the top and face masked Shields the blown call in the end zone was simply proving that something wa s up and GRUDEN even said that the game (not just that call) but the game was leaving a bad taste in his mouth

Here's my thing , I don't feel sorry for Greenbay one bit. When we got screwed by the Steelers a while back why wasn't it this type of commotion , and the real refs screwed us. Stop crying you lost deal with it. It will never be perfect game calling even if the old refs come back.

A thousand times this. So the "regular" refs screw up calls but they're OK, and these refs do the same and get crucified? Baloney. It's all because darling teams aren't getting their calls.

The NFL will avoid wherever possible admission of a bad call that quite literally changed the game outcome.

I have to give the league credit for owning up to the fact that the pass interference non call was botched- given that it wasn't reviewable, they could have side stepped the issue but they acknowledged it regardless. It was so blatantly obvious, even those refs shouldn't have missed it.

This may be overly critical, but I would have rather seen Russell Wilson refer to the play as "fortunate" or something like that rather than sing his own praises and those of Golden Tate. Tate was awful, playing the hero when he knw that he got away with not one but two fast ones on the play. And the push-off pass interference was flat out pre meditated cheating.

I'm okay with the call, but why isn't anyone saying Jennings should have batted the ball away.....?

And isn't there an unwritten rule that you don't throw a flag on the last play of the game unless it so blatant? (come-on-man, it was a jump ball.)

We've been ripped off many games throughout the years.

Like Shula once said, you can't worry about the calls, at the end of the day you hope it evens out.

DB rule #1, Deeper than the deepest. If you are, you can't get pushed in the back.

How many guys was he clustered around? That DB had no chance to get in the back of the end zone. And if Tate didn't blatantly cheat and give him a two hand push in the back that was worthy of whiplash, that DB would have been in the best position of all the players to make a play on the ball. That was the worst offensive pass interference I've ever seen that wasn't called, at least as far as I can recall. And given the circumstances just about every set of eyeballs was looking right there- it's mystifying how no offensive PI was called on that play.

Jim1..which there was a thanks twice button....feel the same way as you!

Josh Sitton summed it up pretty well, and on a level below I would add Russell Wilson to the stfu and quietly enjoy the win list:

“I would say the two biggest goats out of this whole thing are Pete Carroll and Golden Tate. They’re calling it a good call and Golden Tate saying he caught it and there was no push in the back – be a man. You can be happy you won the game, I understand that, stuff is going to happen, but be a man and admit it was a bull-crap call and stand up and have some integrity. How are you going to face the fricking team when they know it’s bull crap? I think Golden Tate and Pete Carroll are completely full of crap.”

"He should have just batted the ball away" I guess no one saw what happened at the end of the Lions game.

It's not a matter of the regular refs never blowing a call. It happens, it's the frequency of it with the replacement refs that is the problem. Not to mention the indecisiveness which is comical

After the controversial finish to Monday night's game between the Packers and the Seahawks, the seat the replacement referees - and NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell - currently occupy went from hot to scalding.

Making matters even worse is this statement, posted to the official Facebook and Twitter account of the Lingerie Football League by LFL Commissioner Mitchell Mortaza, claiming that officiating crews currently working in the NFL were fired by the all-girl football league due to incompetence.

It reads:

Because of the LFL’s perception it is that much more critical for us to hire officiating crews that are competent, not only for the credibility of our game but to keep our athletes safer. Due to several on-field incompetent officiating we chose to part ways with with a couple crews which apparently are now officiating in the NFL. We have a lot of respect for our officials but we felt the officiating was not in line with our expectations.

We have not made public comment to date because we felt it was not our place to do so. However in light of tonight’s event, we felt it was only fair that NFL fans knew the truth as to who are officiating these games.

There you have it. The referees that are currently protecting the NFL's integrity weren't even qualified to work a game between the Philadelphia Passion and Tampa Bay Breeze.

Seahawks and Packers. Angry Birds and Cheeseheads.

Talk about some SERIOUS FUN!!

like ben rothlisberger and his "i had a hand on the ball" in the scuffle two years ago.

clearly he had no hand on the ball when 3 miami players dove in and ben was a yard away.

This is the best thing that could have happened for the rest of the NFL. Until something starts happening to convince the NFL that they need real refs in there, they will continue to flaunt the fact that almost nothing can make the league less popular as long as the games (with real players) are being played.

People will still watch.

Anyone that says they wont are full of ****.

People hated Howard Stern and wanted him off the air way back when, but people still tuned in to see what he would do next. Same premise, people will tune in even if only to see what the refs will do next.
