I would not pass on Chris Long to take Jake. Now if we trade down with Atlanta or KC, and if Chris is gone, I would take Jake Long and if he is gone too, then settle for Ryan Clady.

But Chris Long is going to be special. He has leadership and intensity. He gets his hands into the o-lineman with explosion and burst. I would not pass on him barring a trade down.

If we get Chris, we can still nab Carl Nicks in the 2nd round. Nicks has great upside.

I'd like to see

1. Chris Long
2a. Antoine Cason
2b. Carl Nicks
3. Ray Schuening

That is 4 starters right there, at arguably the 4 biggest weaknesses.

With Cason, Brohm and Hardy on the board . . . I doubt we would go LB, especially if not an 3-4 OLB (Groves).

Why because it addresses our immediate needs?

I'd rather take Cason at #32 and Adibi at #57

This gives us a better player in a spot of greater need, as well as an OLB that more athletic and fits the 3-4 system that we are trying to install.... both of which BETTER address our immediate needs... imo. Even if you wanted to make the argument we need an ILB... Connor was still on that draft board at #32.

Give me James Hardy at #32 and Tracy Porter at #57 and I'd be a happy chappy.

As a matter of fact, yes. Like I said in the other nfldraftcountdown.com thread, you'll notice all of the picks line up nice and neat with the team needs page on the same site. That makes it quick and easy, because the only player rated in the top 5 at any of the positions we have listed as a "need" is Jake Long, so of course he goes #1 overall. It's a quick, easy, and lazy way of coming up with a mock draft.

Sometimes the easy way, is the common sense way.
