1. Defensive Tackle: Keith Traylor's 38-years-old and can no longer man the middle in a 3-4 and neither Steve Fifita or Paul Soliai will be the long-term answer either so they'll probably need a nose tackle.2. Inside Linebacker: Zach Thomas is now winding down toward the end of his career and will be 35-years-old next season but even if that weren't the case he's a bad fit for a "Parcells Style" defense.3. Offensive Tackle: Left tackle Vernon Carey is better suited to be playing at right tackle and his best fit might even be inside at guard while right tackle L.J. Shelton is at best just a stop-gap journeyman.
I was thinking about that the other day- so many good OT's in the draft, and Carey may be best suited to play guard. He's a darned good tackle, but- I swear I would be happy with Jake Long/Mormino/Satele/Carey/Cherilius. And that would most likely be there for the taking.
So many needs on this team I know, but we have to fix the OL, and so many other things will fall into place (time of possession, running game, rest defense, allow Beck to have time to throw/not worry about getting killed in the pocket, give Ginn more time to fly down the field, etc.) Pure synergy.
Carey being better at Guard is debatable, but that would be one butt-kicking Offensive Line and I'm all for it.
