"The workout went pretty good," Beck said of his recent workout with the Panthers. "I want to be perfect on every throw. I felt every throw was on the money at my Pro Day… I had a few off today, but the coaches said don't worry about, but I told him I expect to be perfect on every throw. I felt I should've performed better. I'm a harder critic on myself than those around me....."

LOVE THE ATTITUDE

Good article. Talks about his toughness (didn't miss a start despite being on crutches for six weeks), and his speed (second best 40 and short shuttle for QBs at the combine). Tough and fast with 69% accuracy....not a bad package. Maybe he should be our alternate choice to Quinn...

With what he accomplished in college and his showing at the combine, I would be happy to welcome him aboard.

He's 25, not ideal I agree. So what does that really mean, two fewer years in the NFL? If he is is throwing darts @ 69% for the fins for 10 years rather than 12, I will take it.

yes i do agree, i really want beck if quinn is gone, and i dont want edwards. edwards has three shoulder injuries on his right arm. he wont last very long and i think eck will last longer. beck reminds me of a great QB named tom brady. even though brady plays for a crappy team

i wish i could watch him play before making these judgements. I just dont see a strong arm from this guy. look like he stuggled at the combine to me in some of the passing drills. I want to see him in game situations before saying anything for sure, but personally i would love to see kolb as our 2nd option at qb.

Actually, it was reported earlier that Beck had the second highest velocity on his passes at the combine, behind Russell. Not sure what that equates to, but apparently he can bring it pretty good. I also don't know how they gauge that particular statistic.

Beck does have a good arm, but the problem with the combine is that it gives people the ability to showcase their abilities outside of a game setting. From the game film I've seen, Kolb appears to have more zip on his passes when playing than Beck.
I would love to see Beck work with a good QB coach to bring out more velocity in game time decisions, because it sounds like he has a cannon if he is behind Russell.

I believe Roger Staubauch was an older QB when he started for the Cowboys 26 i believe. Because he was in the military Navy man I believe

Watching tape of Beck, I really like the way he get's the ball out on time, but yet can really sling it down the field when needed. Frankly, he reminds me a little of Philip Rivers.

Beck reminds me of a younger Brad Johnson.

Read, Bang! ball gone.

Read, Read, Bang!

The guy doesn't make bad plays. Is he a NFL starter? Tough call. Although great backup potential.

There are some great Beck highlights on YouTube. One particular short highlight shows him throwing the ball over 70 yards......the dude has got a howitzer.......

Yep lots of QB's didn't really blossom or even have a chance to play until they were in their late 20's....Steve Young and Roger Staubach....I would take either one of them to be my QB. I think if Quinn is not around it comes down to either Beck or Kolb.

I think his lack of ideal height could be offset with his mobility which would allow him to create viable throwing lanes.
