That's an outstanding blurb, and I hope it's right about Vickerson's potential impact. Thank you for sharing.

As much as everyone is concerned about our "aging" defense, we have...

Vickerson, Evans, Rod Wright, and Manny Wright who can step in at tackle
Roth at DE
Crowder at LB...and don't forget Derrick Pope
Young secondary, and we might add a corner or safety in the first round.

Great read on Vickerson.

I have been a fan of Vickerson since hr was drafted. I think he really turned it on during his last year in college and I have been rooting for him ever since.

I believe that in order for this team to be good to great, we have to build from within the organization and play our younger players like Vickerson. Players like Roth and Crowder have established themselves to a degree, it is time for the Travis Daniels' Vickerson's and Jason Allen's of this team to make an impact in my opinion.

I really think the age on the D-line is a bit overstated. If a guy like Branch is there at 9 he should certainly be an option and if not the Dolphins should still look to get a D lineman at some point. But the Dolphins are not short on young guys with potential. Manny Wright, Rod Wright, Kevin Vickerson, and Fred Evans all at some point have shown some promise and while none of them are sure things you throw in Matt Roth and there is some young talent there.

Vickerson hasnt done a damn thing to make anyone think he's going to be a worthwhile player. He hasnt played a down in the regular season, and he didnt show anything in any of his preseason games. He's a name on the roster right now, and that is it.

I agree that the players are there. The reason you hear about the age is that the veterans are the ones who have gotten the lion's share of the playing time. You can't just project the backups to come in and take over without a hitch. The DL play probably will suffer while everything comes together.

nice article. That makes me feel good about his chances. If him and Evans can just be average to good I'll be thrilled. Its nice his teammates like him that much. Too bad about Holliday. I was hoping to keep him and let Carter go

It isnt the "aging defense" that is a concern...it's the "aging NT" that is the concern...

Traylor is 38yrs old and Big Daddy didnt even get playing time ahead of Zgonina? Right now...Manny Wright is the dark horse...is he a capable/potential NT?

Evans is too light to play NT...unless he puts on 15 lbs? Hmm.

Still, question marks at NT

all the other parts, I agree

Carter's a class act. Everytime I see him on TV he really makes me feel good about having him on the team. He brings credibility and respect with him. He's intelligent, well spoken and greatly admired around the league as a soft spoken lion. I really feel his presence reaches far beyond that locker room and into every city in the league.

He and JT bring a level of class to the organization that makes you proud when you see them on TV. We are not represented by a bunch of thugs. We have great representation and I'd like to keep it that way.

I hope Carter is around for many more years. Even as just a mentor and vocal leader.

Great points. If the price is right I would like to keep him and since we're apparently getting rid of Holliday maybe we can afford him.

My sentiments exactly, which is why I hope we can resign Holliday. He was easily our 2nd best DL in 2006.

Im not sure were but I was reading that Travis Daniels played the entire season this year no where near 100%. It said he was at something like 75-80% so dount count him out, that same article said he might be the most talented corner on this team which is good but doesnt say much lol. I will look for it and post the link.
