Athletic ability garnered Vontae Davis few perks as he grew up in Washington. For one thing, grandmother Adaline Davis, head of the house, thinks little of football or material goods. Even after Vontae's older brother Vernon Davis became San Francisco's No. 1 pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, she wouldn't let him shower his siblings with gifts.
Some people hit the gym a few times a week and hit church on Sunday. Davis had a personal trainer as a high school freshman and, for years before that, attended nightly services in either the Lord's house or in his own.

Ted likes what he reads about Vontae and feels he will be a tremendous asset to the secondary!

nobody know nothing - when they get on the field , then we can talk!!!!!PHINFAN4LIFE

I've listened to this guy talk and I think he got a bad rap. He doesn't sound even remotely like a diva or in any way stuck on himself. In fact, I liked him and Sean Smith too.

Dolphins got themselves a HOFamer. Now, who is going to backup Crowder and lead the defense when Crowders knee goes?

One thing that got me pissed of is almost 75 percent of these people on this site before the draft hated vontae davis cause he supposably was a thug. All i wanna say to those people is u need to give people a chance and wait till u make a mistake and everyone talks about u. u will be very pissed off. But back to the point I was honestly a Vontae supporter from the start

I'll gladly eat my crow. I'm man enough to admit when I was wrong. I was wrong about this kid.

Well....Im glad everyone thought he was a thug, and I guess maybe I have to tank pac-man too....if not for Pac-man and everyone thinking he was a thug, he wouldn't be a dolphin.

While that's true a lot of don't pretend to be draft-niks in any way shape or form... I'm glad you are likley right about Vontae...

Draft-niks are sometimes fooled by the poewrhouse team defenses...

I always have a concern when a defense is stoked with talent like at USC and then you wonder how good their players are because their flaws and deficiencies are shadowed by other good players..., I mean I wouldn't be surprised if all USC LBs have rather mediocre careers...

I love our first three picks the rest is a crap shoot - in my opinion...

Had Sean gone 2A Pat White may have still been there at 2B hard to say either way..., I think the first day looks good..., we have CBs who actually like to hit people..., I was thrilled to see their names called...

A guy like Chris Clemons at Clemson was tested repeatedly a testament to this is his high tackle totals..., this is good..., he likes to get his nose/jersey dirty...

To all the draft-niks out there relax...

IMO thats how you successfully build a franchise, get your first and 2nd rounders to pan out. Hit on a 3rd rounder every other year or so and the occasional late round gem and your setting yourself up well for the future.
