no RB?
You may have to finally come to grips with the fact that we aren't drafting "competition" for Deiter......lol. It just isn't a realistic, and sound plan.I like Lindstrom at Center but expect it to be Tom
Anytime we have an opportunity to upgrade a position and the means to do it I'll be interested. Last I checked we don't know what the team tried to do to secure a Center. We just know that so far they haven't.You may have to finally come to grips with the fact that we aren't drafting "competition" for Deiter......lol. It just isn't a realistic, and sound plan.
I have been trying to tell ppl all along that the way to go there was bring in a cheap vet FA after the draft/cuts.
Not patting myself on the back for what I consider to be rational.Anytime we have an opportunity to upgrade a position and the means to do it I'll be interested. Last I checked we don't know what the team tried to do to secure a Center. We just know that so far they haven't.
Bringing in a "cheap vet FA" after the draft isn't going to upgrade us at Center.
As for what's realistic, on draft day your priorities determine what's realistic, so I'm not sure what you are patting yourself on the back about.
I prefer vet FA.Bring in 2 of the following 3 as Udfa's... Leddie Brown (WVa), C Rodriguez (Kentucky), Snoop Conner (Ole Miss).
The original post was an article about Miami showing interest in upgrading our Center position. It was pretty much understood by everyone that read it that the focus was on potentially trading up in the draft. Not patting myself on the back for what I consider to be rational.
It isn't rational to expect to draft a Center in the late rounds to be an upgrade over an experienced starter. Does it happen? Of course it does. Is it common, or likely? No it isn't.
That is where our disagreement lies. Even if we had drafted a late rd Center, we still would have needed to bring in a vet to be safe. Aside from that, beyond the top two Center prospects, none of the guys were exceptional, or a standout in any way. It appears that GMs around the league would agree with that assessment.
I agree that if you can upgrade within the framework of positional value, you absolutely do it. I just think expecting a low round rookie pick to actually be an upgrade, and depending on it to happen is folly. It's a shot in the dark. Sure you take those at times, but you do it as an afterthought, not as a viable plan.
