On WQAM right now (is it Cefalo? it's 7:10 est), the host just reported that one of the few conversations he had with Nick Saban last year about football-related decisions Nick said he, "has a quarterback who can't move. He's going to get killed out there." After that conversation, Nick Saban was seen at practice in a heated spat with Daunte when he told him that he couldn't move and he was going to be sitting him.

I've been saying this for a while now, Daunte has been in complete contradiction with his demeanor last season. He's been saying in the media thru his emails that he was rushed back. Yet it was Daunte Culpepper feuding with Saban about being sat and openly claiming in training camp that he was ready to rock.

he is saying that in order to persuade teams to take a chance on him.

Yeah, people forget that Daunte said he was healthy last year, but something popped in the Buffalo game, and he couldn't move right after that.

So he may be almost healthy again, but for how long? One little thing and its back to the bike. He may literaly have to deal with this forever. Its just not worth it.

You are right. I was thinking the same thing after I heard CP complain that he was "rushed" into playing. He is the one who insisted that he was 100% recovered and ready to play. The sooner we "rush" him out the door, the better. I didn't like him before got him and I like him even less now. He's just a sad remnant of the Saban fiasco. Adios, Culpepper.

Gee, thanks Nick, why couldn't you have figured that out earlier?

Must have happened on the way to the field then because that first series was an absolute disaster and it didn't get much better.

If ever there was a bit for football follies that would be it!

well if daunte could not move all through preseason and through 4 games why did Saban start him. Why not wait like we thought we were going to have to do. Saban screwed this whole thing up royally. The biggest mistake that Saban made was not drafting a Qb either of his drafts. Even if you trade for Culpepper we had no Qb to develop except other teams castoffs, why not draft a Qb in 2005 or 2006. would have been a smart move to trade up and get Leinhart last year but of course he learned nothing from our infamous Qb history of late. Leinhart would have had us in great shape this year, instead of thinking about possibly competing in three years as we shoot for .500 with another castoff QB. Some like Beck some like Quinn but no scenario would have been better than getting Leinhart last year.

i heard the conversation too via the internet...

Daunte trying to be agent and player at the same time. LOL... I don't know... blaming the organization for last years setback I don't believe is a good strategy. Nothing like devaluing your client.!

You're not hearing the quote right. He was medically cleared. Daunte himself proclaimed himself ready. Nick Saban didn't do enough due diligence and pull the trigger quick enough and when he did, Daunte fueded with him openly at practice.

Same here....... good ol'internet. God I hate livin' in AZ.

None of Sabans decisions including pulling Daunte,or playing Bell,or giving Allen a fair chance,or just throwing a damn flag were quick enough but the WORST decision he had (which wasn't quick enough) was his decision to leave.

Don't blame Nick for Daunte's decision to play. He practiced in all the minicamps and throughout the preseason... no problems. Then the regular season starts and he can't make a freakin' decision to get rid of the ball quickly and the Oline is a sieve: really bad combo. Culpepper is being described as Saban's guy. That's bull. Saban and the Dolphins needed a QB badly and it was between Daunte and Brees and the medical staff said Brees. End of story. Nick hand no relationship with Culpepper because both of them are nuts. The real problem with Nick is he was your basic defensive minded coach that had no clue about offense. When Linehan left and took Frerot with him, Nick's world crumbled. The exact same thing happened with JJ and Wanny. With JJ it was Gary Stevens, when Stevens left, JJ promoted Kippy Brown. With Wanny he had Norv and Chan, when they left, Wanny imploded. This has been the way with the "defensive minded head coaches we've hired. Cam has made many moves most seem bizarre, but he's an offensive guy tinkering with a horrible offense. Let's give him a chance.
