1. With apologies to Marvin Lewis, Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden, Nick Saban had the best September of any NFL coach. Give Saban his second upset win of the month, as the Dolphins stun the Panthers 27-24. With Jake Delhomme marching down the field, pacing the Panthers for a go-ahead score, Lance Schulters seemingly came out of nowhere to pick off Delhomme with about two minutes to go, setting up Olindo Mare's game-winning field-goal for the Fish.

Scroll down to 1st and 10

First and Ten: Observations..

Also scroll farther and they have Ronnie Brown as Rookie of the Week.

I gotta agree about Cincinatti. People expected the Bengals to be better with how Palmer finished the year last year. As for the Bucs though, I don't know.

Saban has had a great September but no one expected anything out of Gruden either. I think I'd give it to Saban though just because we were still expected to be one of the very worst due to preseason, and now we're ahead of two teams in the AFC East that a lot of people picked as playoff caliber teams.

on a side note the cheerleader photo gallery on that site is awesome

The reason that Gruden and Lewis can't have that claim IMO is the schedule they have faced. We have faced 3 very good teams. The Buccs and Bengals haven't really been challenged yet.

I love how the sports analysts are all jumping on Miami's bandwagon when it wasn't 5 weeks ago I was hearing some people say that by week 5 Saban was going to be wishing he was back at L.S.U.:D

also don`t forget that Saban is a rookie HC, I think that`s why they consider him the best coach of the month

Beautiful Jets QB bashing in "Observations" #6.

"Their 26-20 overtime loss to the Jags was a rather disgusting display of football. But there's a ray of hope. With Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler banged up and undergoing MRIs Monday, Brooks Bollinger might get the starting not for the Jets in Baltimore next week."

WE have one helluva schedule approaching... But after this ugly and gritty win... If we can get a hold of these penalties.. we can compete with any of the tems approaching. Davis didn't even rush for 40 yrds!!!

It won't happen every game... but we will compete.

Im a happy camper!
