No doubt now that MIA needs to sign new Center for 2009

You can see how terrible Satele has played today, confirming his struggles against good NTs. We can't go into 2009 with Satele as our starting C. We may need to draft or sign another G too. We have been dominated today.
 
samson satele was the wes welker pick no? wes welker the leading receiver in the nfl dude?
 
Satele completely blows. Are there still any Satele lovers out there? I doubt there are after this year... Satele would make a pretty good Guard, but wow, he is complete garbage at Center. Definately need to find a new Center in the offseason.
 
aFEW VERY GOOD CENTERS AVAILABLE IN THE DRAFT.
Max Unger...can play every position on the line
Alec Mack who is a legit first round draft pick who is big,
strong,relentless,and NASTY(MY VOTE)
Jonathan Luigis who some feel is better than both named above

If they wait till the secondround they should be able to pick a stud center but this team likes to draft these players in the later rounds

By "Satele Lovers" do you mean people who still believe Samson is a quality C. Or by "Satele Lovers" do you mean people who think he could be a really good RG. Because, I think he be an excellent RG. The G position plays a lot more to his strengths.

Satele does not complete blow, as you suggest, but he has proven to be a subpar center against overpowering nose tackles.

Unfortunately, it might be tough to find an immediate replacement. Also, I don't think that he's a prototypical guard in a Parcells/Ireland/Sparano offense. They typically go for behemoth guards.
 
Hell, I would settle for Eric Wood from Louisville in the 4th.

I'm referring to all those people who came out talking about how great a Center he is. He had a solid Rookie year, but completely blew at C this year. I do believe Satele will be a good Guard in this league though.

I usually agree with you Hugo, but this time, I respectfully disagree. Satele is great on screens, and is a decent puller, but as far as straight up Run Blocking and Pass Blocking goes, he's simply not that good, and is easily replaceable.

I agree we need OL and DL badly
 
The easiest solution would be switching Satele and Thomas. So many reports earlier in the season about Thomas being "thick" and "heavy." Satele would be a decent guard and Thomas seems smart enough to make the necessary calls, but we'll leave it up to Parcells & co.

Actually, I like where you're going. However, I want to make one slight change. I would put Donald Thomas at LG. Imagine him and Jake on the same side. Defenders would be getting blown off the ball like crazy. I have concerns about Smiley long term. This is the second year in a row he's finished on IR and before his injury, the shoulder that ended his 2007 season in San Francisco was giving him fits again. So, again my line would be:

LT: Jake Long
LG: Donald Thomas
C: Al Johnson/2009 Draft pick
RG: Samson Satele
RT: Vernon Carey
