Blame it on Frerrotte if you wish, but he doesn't play defense.
The dolphins were very much in this game until about the end of the 3rd Qtr. When everything seemed to go wrong. It's unfair to blame any certain people, because football is a team sport. However, our defense, as a whole, is a problem.
The strategy of building our defense around jason taylor isn't working, atleast not for jason taylor himself. JT doesn't seem comfortable with it at all. He's not giving a good pass rush as he once did. He's on pace to barely manage 10 sacks this year, if at all. He's not really doing anything useful as a LB either. And the long run by pittman, although Jason Showed great heart and determination to try and catch him, should have never gotten passed him in the first place.
I won't go deep into the linebacking core. Zachs playing well. crowders learning, but hes still a bit away from being solid. As for spragan, he's been unimpressive to say the least.
The secondary is a joke at this point. Not one of our guys can cover. Daniels is the only one that can play the rookie card, as for madison, howard, jones, and yes, even shulters (although, shulters does make plays) are all well seasoned vets. If you saw the game, i don't think any of us ever want to see the #84 ever again, because galloway played like he was T.O.
Now, when Griese was in, i was simply annoyed with our defense. When Simms got put in, and moved the ball almost easier, that's when i lost it.
It's too easy to point the finger at our offense. The penalties are a problem (duh) and they just don't make the plays when they are there. (a few that come to mind, the bomb to chambers that he layed out for and dropped. The drop on 3rd and long to booker that hit him in the chest. and the big overthrow to diamond)
But the dolphins offense was playing a great defense.
The dolphins defense, however, made the bucs offense look even better.
all i can say is, i hope everyone keeps fighting. and don't give up on our team. Saban will do everything he can. but our defense, as usuall, seems overrated.
