I dont understand why noone is considering keeeping Tillman as our SS..... I though Tillman was outstanding filling in for Jones the entire year... Tillman is a solid tackler (64 tackles), and a great playmaker (3 INT's)... Tillman did extremely well for a SS especially grabbing up 3 INT's... I dont really think that there is even a solid list of upgrades... heres a list of my possible upgrades....

Tank Williams - IMO dosent have much better skill than Tillman... If we were to get him we should split time with he and Tillman or have an open competition in TC to see who will start full time...

Marlon McCree - One person whom I think may be better... Have an open competition, see who wins.... Hes a playmaker and a bruiser....

Ryan Clark - Is yound and should come cheap.... as with everyother SS listed, have an open competition....

A few not on my list that may surprise you... Corey Chavous (Not a big hitter, aging), Adam Archuleta (Gets beat, injuries, aging...

Anyone else agree that they would be fully comfortable going out in 06' with Tillman as our starting SS... I dont think I would have made that statement in the begging of last year but Tillman really proved something to me throughout the year...

I would think Tillman can be a starter. He was a 2nd rounder for the Jills but didnt fit. I know he had commitment issues with the Jills but has turned that around. If he didnt, Saban would have signed him. Even if he does now (which i dont htink), Saban can turn that.

I dont understand the "open competition" thing. Every position has an open competition, spoken or unspoked.

Tillman was solid but unspectacular. I cant for the life of me understand the love here.

Look at some of the other 3-4 teams and their safeties. Usually the strong safety is a playmaker type (Polamalu, Rodney Harrison). I don't really see Travares Tillman filling that type of role. He's a good backup, but I still believe there's room for improvement to be found in our starting safeties.
