Can anyone name ONE top 10 pick in the last 8 years who has really lived up to the status at which they were drafted? I think the last time was nearly 10 years ago, when Orlando Pace and Walter Jones were both drafted in the top 6 picks. I say NO to O line in round one! Think Robert Gallery as the #2 overall pick a few years back, and this year a turnstile for opposing DE's.
2nd, think Jamar Fletcher in round 1... -vs- Sam Madison and Pat Surtain in the 2nd round, back in 98' and 99' (if I remember right).
I know it's all relative to who's available, but unless Brohm or Quinn somehow falls to us, we MUST go WR with our #1 pick! Then DB or O line rounds 2 and 3, in either order... thoughts? (Keep in mind all, I'm not considering the possibility of a Nate Clements etc thru FA. I'm saying, as of today, and this instant...)

a WR cant do much without a good QB to throw him the ball, a QB cant be successful unless he has good pertection

You completely missed the point... I never said don't grab an O lineman. We need to go O line via FA or find a good one rd's 2 thru 4. But there are very, very few top 10 picks who have come in to be special players or all-pro's, that were drafted as a LT.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold both look pretty good for the damn Jets, and Pacman Jones and Antrel Rolle are holding there own, I think your theory varies from year to year depending on the prospects. I for one think Joe Thomas and Leon Hall, the top players at LT and CB will do just fine and we should pick one if we get the chance.

willie anderson seems to have worked out for the bengals all these years, I know he is a right tackle but still a tackle none the less. Ogden seems to have done okay. Turley seemed ok before his back went on him. Charles Woodson, though overrated has done okay. Champ Bailey and Chris McAllister are pretty good. Chris Samuels isnt to bad. Levi Jones and Bryant McKinnie. Just throwing names out there. However the only tackle worth drafting high right now is Joe Thomas and I doubt he falls to us. Im not a big fan of Leon Hall seeing as how slow and small he is. I much prefer Gaines Adams right now and if Alan Branch fell that far, I would take him in a heart beat.

I understand your point, and it makes sense to an extent... but you also prove my own point to an extent. You don't spend a top 5 pick on Ferguson to "look pretty good", you spend a top 5 on a guy you hope will be SPECIAL. Did Mangold play any better or worse than Ferguson? No, he also looked "pretty good". It proves my point that you could find someone equally suitable for our needs in rd 2... meaning, a solid player that is an upgrade from an existing starter, while also having upside to improve every year.
And yes, Rolle and Pacman are good players, but we got Sam Madison and Pat Surtain in the 2nd rd in back to back years, and we can do it again. As long as we don't draft another Yatil Green, I say we go WR in rd 1... since it's supposed to be strong draft for WR's this year.

well you never really hear much about linemen period

Draft=Tedd Ginn JR WOOOOOT
Other offseason moves

-Sign Briggs

-Get Ricky back

-Trade Joey for a 3rd or 4th

-Daunte healthy

-Pick up an insurance FA at QB

-Draft O-line....lots

-Resign Welker, Holliday i kno thier a bunch those are just the ones off the top of my head

- let roth take over a DE.......dont resign Carter

-Fire MM

- Mike Cameron new OC

-Big name CB to go with are solid CB corps

-Let Bell jell with Noby( Renaldo HILL)

-Mare pay cut or no resign

That would be a rock solid team......we have plenty of cap room and none of those are unrealistic!!!

cam cameron wont come here to be OC. he wants a head coaching job and wouldnt leave san diego for a lateral move. we arent going to get a 3rd or 4th for joey. if we can ok but i seriously doubt it. kevin carter isnt a free agent, he counts against the cap quite a bit but is still playing at a high level so i see no reason to get rid of him right now. until we have a replacement for mare we shouldnt cut him.

Bro... the odds of a WR busting are probably higher than any other position. WRs dont pan out often...

this sounds like a hernia test administered by Mel Kiper...

1. He's a rookie.
2. Tony Wise is their O-Line coach.

Circumstances could be better for D'Brickashaw. As for Surtain and Madison, they were corners who fit our scheme, they weren't necessarily burners, but they could bump-n-run well, which is what our scheme was in Jimmy's 4-3.
