I know everyone is waiting to hear what Pace is going to do and is driving everyone nuts but the more time goes by without us hearing anything the better for us imo....the reason is that he already knew what the offer was from us and then he went to NY to hear their offer....if he liked their offer better then he should have said that by now...as long as you don't hear that he's with the jets I think that means he's coming to florida....of course I could be wrong but I really think that he wants to play for us and the only way he was good go to the jets was if they 'make him an offer he couldn't refuse" and I don't see how they can have the room to make such an offer....having said all that, make your mind dude and either come down here or say you're not so we can move on.

Ozzy rules!!

Depends on where you stand on signing him. IMO, we are giving him WAY too much guaranteed money. $20 million guaranteed for a player who's best season was just decent? I'm not all that excited about Pace - not for that kind of money.

Keep in mind that we may not necessarily have offered 20 mil guaranteed. There have been so many false reports this year that i'll wait until we see the final numbers.

I don't really want him anymore. Let's just go get Chris Long!
Lets get them them both. Joey and Channing inside with JT and Calvin on the ouside and Long and Holliday at the ends with Ferguson at NT. That should be one hell of a playmaking front 7. Possibly the best ever IMO. I'm not too sure Pace is worth that money after 1 good year but that sure looks good on paper.

Please! 20 mil is the reason you dont want him? Why? Because its 5 more than 15 mil which you are OK with? Get real. You pay for the guys you want, or someone else will. We are in fine cap shape, and we need talent NOW. And EVERYWHERE.

I'll be happy if he signs, regardless of the money. And you should be too. Its not like we have some pro bowlers we can turn around and offer it to, and in the NFL, contracts are not a promise, they are a contingency. If you play well, and if we keep you, you will be paid. Sometimes, guys dont even see half of their contract, even if they DO play well. So relax, and let the front office focus on the money side of things. You complain about having second rate talent, and when we are looking to acquire good talent, you complain its too expensive because of 5 mil guaranteed? Get serious.

I don't really know what to think of Pace. He's perfect for the 3-4, and i understand why he wants his money now, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I think he'll be a solid starter. Justworried about whether or not he'll be a stud.

Uh, you need to get real. That's the same type of post we have read from many people on this site that said the same about Joey Porter. Now we have to deal with that contract for a long time.

Calvin Pace has had a decent season; he is not a player you overpay for, and obviously right now, it doesn't matter to him whether you're a Super Bowl contending team or a crap franchise like us; he just wants to get paid.

There is something called a salary cap that for once, we must learn to manage it correctly. We should not be going on any type of bidding war for a player; if he wants to play for this team or for the Jets, then he would have signed already. It's not about where his heart is, it's about where they money is at. It's obvious it's all about the money now, and guess what, the Jets are a rival team and he's choosing between the both of us which kind of creeps me out about the guy.

We also have the #1 pick overall which if you have not seen the past drafts, that can go very well over 30 mill in guarantee money this season to a rookie.

I can't wait to see those final numbers on our cap; it better pay off, seems like we're retooling again instead of rebuilding through the draft. Reasons why the Patriots and the Colts have had such success is because they have managed their cap perfectly with their drafts in which they can use, trash, and replace a player any time without having any dropoff.

Man, why do people talk as if Joey Porter played like Eddie Moore last year? Sure, he had issues early on, but I would venture a guess that the final eight games, he was one of our more productive players, and brought energy and passion to a DEPLETED defensive unit. I have no problem with Joey, and I certainly dont have a problem "dealing with his contract" considering we had the most cap room in the league this year, WITH that contract on the books.

And I trust Parcells' assessment of Pace more than yours, to be honest, as he and Ireland found and turned Demarcus Ware out of TROY into one of the league's premier 3-4 OLBs.

I agree about Porter...don't blame Porter for playing a position he wasn't use to...he came from a 3-4...and we had him in a 4-3...blame the past management.

Long would not play DE for us, he would be an OLB, which is why I don't want Pace anymore. Too much money at one position.

Thats another point, I knew I was forgetting something. We played predominantly a 4-3 alignment last year, for whatever reason (injuries, most likely), and we were as vanilla as we were during the Wanny/Bates years. Thats just not Joey's game. Even announcers pointed out repeatedly that, in talking to Joey, he was disappointed that the team wasnt using him as promised, in what he does best.

Yeah I wouldn't exactly look into 20 million guaranteed. It will likely be around 17 or 18 when its all set and done. Also, how about we bring in Chris Long, Calvin Pace and young beast Blackstock.
