Pretty happy with the draft although I wanted Lawson bad. What does everyone think about us not drafting an OLB? Do you think this means that Saban is pretty confident that Hodge & Spragan can get it done? I was under the impression that that was not the case considering out interest in Peterson & Arrington. Seems like OLB is still a long-term need for us at this point.

We got it done last year with Spragan as the starter, so I am not overally worried. The good thing about this year is that Spragan has Hodge pushing him for the job. I am sure between now and the season we will pick up another linebacker to add depth and compete.

$10 says Cameron Vaughn is signed as an undrafted FA if he doesn't get picked up.

Honestly I'm surprised they picked up Hodge at all with anything more then special teams in mind. He makes Morlon Greenwood look like a "playmaker"

I'm sure they will also pick up a couple undrafted LB's to.

lawson was more of a luxury pick. a luxury pickk i wanted baaaaddddddd. but allen was the more smarter choice (he starts at safety), considering we did pick up hodge. he was a starter last year right?

I was upset when we didnt use the last draft pick on Stanley McClover. I really thought he would be good at OLB in the 3-4 and he was the fastest DE in the draft. But instead, the "locals" as in the Carolina Panthers took him. They got a great coaching staff and wouldn't draft him unless they saw potential. Oh well, Rodrique Wright made we happy though.

Notice the trend in two straight Texas boys being drafted? I bet Dom had something to do with that.

Vaughn doesn't sound bad. Especially if we go 3-4 we could put him and zach in the middle and crowder and taylor outside.

Maybe this means we're staying with a 4-3 based on the number of defensive linemen we have.

You've got to remember the second the Draft was over we were on the phone to probably 30 people with an invite.

Look for Cameron Vaughn to be brought in as an UDFA... He is an OLB and was a captain of Saban's defense at LSU...

I cant believe he hasnt got drafted yet...
