Talk about conflicting reports. Some of the posts I have seen on finheaven have been claiming Beck had a good mini camp. Yet, this article with the Miami Herald claims Beck's passes were "hitting the ground, or going high and wide when they weren't being picked off."

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/story/134861.html

Considering the reason for taking Beck was his "intelligence" and "accuracy" this article does not reflect those two qualities at all. In fact, outside of finheaven, every media report I have seen of Beck so far has been he either has had trouble with clock management, holding on to footballs, trouble with play calling, and/or inaccuracy.

I understand Beck has time to develop so what we see now is not necessarily what we will get in a year or two. But what I see from the media and what I see at finheaven do not jive at all! So what is it? Is this report and the media in general inaccurate or do we just have some overzealous fans here on finheaven?

That's because the media is looking to rip the Fins for their draft and only report the negative stuff.

Quick question for ya? How many planes land safely in the world each and every day?

I am more upset with what the article said about Allen. Beck is a rookie, Allen is just playing like one. He will have to show up in camp next year or he will be gone.

From my experience following what happens at mini camps, the stuff I'm hearing on Beck is largely neutral.

Physically speaking he's just not going to stand out to people the way Daunte does. Not unless you have learned to appreciiate very subtle things like a quick release, anyway.

And even though he's an accurate guy, his accuracy thus far is going to be mediocre at best as he gets use to the offense. That much I think is generally assumed.

The positives you can take from his showings so far is that he has not done anything to embarrass himself at all. Any negative stuff you hear about him struggling or showing up poorly is baloney. He doesn't look lost or overwhelmed. He's just one of the quarterbacks.

When I watch the three guys side-by-side, I see some subtle things. Trent Green has the surest ball of the three, but Cleo Lemon's got more arm and can work his feet in there, make plays. John Beck has by far the quickest release of the three.

You'll start to see the differences between them more pronounced when bullets are flying during the games.

I don't care how Quinn does unless he is a star. He will come along as well although I never wanted him. I also didn't want Ginn but where other direction could we go in for help on OFFENSE?

Beck is a rookie so I don't expect him to start right away. Very few QB's blow up in there rookie year. Even Vince Young wasn't lights out throwing the ball in his rookie and Peyton even struggled. I can wait for Beck but he will have to be ready next year because I am not sold on Green and Cam doesn't seem to want to start Lemon. I can't blame him though.

I hope so. I want to see Allen do well because I liked him when he played at Tenn. I wouldn't say that the media is as biased against the Domphins as some might suggest. Our team has alot of question marks and a new head coach and QB so I think most writers will be rather pessimistic in regards to our success this season.

Vince Young was terrible when passing the ball, but quite good when running it. He'll need to take that step up in his passing game though or face being a Mike Vick.

Yeah I don't expect we'll see what John Beck can do until a year from now. I think he could benefit from an NFL weight training and conditioning program. Someone ought to recommend him the guy that took control of Drew Brees' diet, exercise, throwing motion, etc...turned him overnight into one of the best QBs out there.

:sidelol:

Great question. LOL. For some twisted reason, negative press sells, and these critics think that tearing someone up makes them look smarter than pointing out their good features. I'd say it takes a smart journalist to notice the nuances and the great things players do, even in camp. It's easier to be negative.

The insiders at the dolphins camp, the guys on the field, are the ones I trust. I don't know where these other guys get their info. They're just trying to get people to read their articles.

Quinn also has had alot of bad reports

:sidelol: Didnt take long into this thread for the expected Quinn deflection, pathetic lol. Quinn throws a bad pass and 4 different threads are started to show passing on him was a good idea. Now such a thread is started about Beck and the response is well Quinn is bad too. Maybe people shouldnt read so much into practice from a rookie.

I agree on that part.

Like it or not however Quinn and Beck will always be linked and compared. If Quinn busts and Beck plays lights out then we will hear how genius it was. If they both play decent or great in their career we will hear how we got a guy equal to him and Ginn at WR. (assuming Ginn is anything decent) If Beck busts we will hear about it for years.....

Might be kind of annoying but that's the way it's going to be....and trust me I don't like it any more than you do.
