After speaking to a source on the Colts the team didn't believe Manning would get another surgery. There was, however, a serious concern that Manning was not only going to miss the season opener but the potential was for Manning to miss four or five games. Or more.

The Colts have been preparing for the worst, I'm told, beginning this week. When Kerry Collins was signed some on the coaching staff always thought Collins would replace Manning for a game or two. Now, that mindset is changing within the team. I can tell you the coaches are preparing for a longer period of life without Manning. They are hoping for the best but now fearing the worst.

All signs definitely point to Manning missing the season opener. But there are a few within the Colts organization that think he could miss allot more than just 1 game. He seems to be healing allot slower than anticipated.

Eerily similar to Marino (different type of problem, but with same effect). I have a feeling Manning's career is over or in serious jeopardy. Nerve injuries can be unpredictable. He may never get full return of function.
