Cook is an athletic freak . . . he's more in the Vernon Davis mold than the Zach Miller mold. He's a nightmare matchup for whoever uses him correctly. I keep thinking of Bush, Cook, Wallace, Patterson, Bailey on my offense. That would be scary . . . mismatches all over the field and with Tannehills ability to see the field and read the blitz . . . he'd go nutz with that group.

one thing you said is so true. The fact of "if used correctly". I have more faith in our current staff to do this but am still Leary after all the years of bad coaching. Cook could be great. Can't wait til FA!

oh don't get me wrong kdawg, athletically Cook blows those boys out of the water. What I was alluding to is the "breakout" aspect of these tight ends. Cook has showed flashes, but if we sign him to the FA deal he is looking for... he better become a big time TE production wise.. thus far, he is basically all 'what if he gets on the right team potential'.

There is ZERO argument that he is an upgrade from what we've got. I'm just fairly certain we wont get the bang for our buck on him... too many red flags for me.

The shoulder is something to take into consideration. I dunno, I'd gamble 5 years and 30 million with him. Sure Aaron Hernandez got 6 million per as well and his numbers blows Cooks up . . . but I have just seen this kid win on too many occassions and the way he wins . . . to ignore that talent. We've gambled on guys before and lost, I'd gamble on Cook and if we lost, atleast I lost with some high grade talent at a position of need. I also think Dan Campbell and Jim Turner are going to have alot of things in store for a guy like Cook and it will make him stronger than ever.

why does part of me think Ireland is going to hold out for Egnews development. You can give him the Clyde Gates treatment if he isn't up to par this year.

I've seen the way Green Bay uses TE's in the past . . . Philbin is a guy who likes his TE's. I think one year he carried 4 or 5 of them on the active roster. Unfortunately while the line was a work in progress early in the year with Jake underperforming and Martin turnstiling it, Fasano was a glorified blocker during that time and he didn't get to use his TE's like he wanted to until later on when Martin got more stable and the line was able to gel a bit more.
