with Grady Little managing, Derek Lowe & Bill Mueller. Jeff Kent for Manny Ramirez anyone?

Not a bad looking team with:
SS-Furcal
3B-Mueller
1B-Garciaparra
2B-Kent
RF-Drew
CF-Cruz,Jr
C-Phillips/Navarro
LF-platoon of scrubs

all contingent on Nomar & JD being healthy.

I think Nomar will have a huge year this season. Comeback player of the year type of season. This isn't a bad signing at all for LA.

I hate the Dodgers, but this was a good signing for them. Does Nomar move to the outfield when Caesar is back?

This has been a pretty solid offseason for the Dodgers.

Nomar is still effective bat in the lineup. They got rid of that headcase Milton Bradley.. they signed Furcal, who I'm personally not as high on as some people, but he's a good ballplayer. And probably the best move they made was acquiring Bill Mueller, that guy is a STUD. He's an excellent hitter and an extremely underrated defensive 3rd baseman.

That organization is definitely moving in the right direction. Now if they can stop giving out foolish contracts to the likes of Derek Lowe and J.D. Drew they would be a factor in the NL.

Why would they do that? Can Izturis play 1st? He has a great glove & pretty good speed so I'd want to see if he can play CF.

That's funny a week or so ago you said that if the Blue Jays signed Nomar it would make that team even worse....

If health Nomar will probably have a huge season. He was having a great spring last year, although he got off to a terrible start with the Cubs when he came back from his groin injury he hit very well. I think this was a good move by LA. Nomar is a very very good hitter when healthy. The west is wide open but if all the Dodger players are healthy they have to be the favorites in the west. Although they still need a few arms in their rotation. (Also hiring a good manager wouldn't have hurt them either but they're stuck with Grady Gump/Forest Little)

I heard before that Kent was going to move over to 1st and Izturis to 2nd when he came back. I could see Izturis moving to center though when he's back

Apparently Nomar might play LF, putting Kent at 1st and Cesar at 2nd.

They also have Choi at 1st in case Cesar isn't healthy to start off the season.

Ah, didn't think of that. Yeah, I'd put Kent at first & move Nomar to LF.

With his signing in LA his power #s most definitely won't return even if he is healthy all year. He'll have to get all he can with his extra trips to Coors.

I don't remember saying that. But Nomar in Toronto isn't a good move for the Jays. He isn't a piece that helps them. He can help LA. The Dodgers have a foundation and Nomar is a luxery. The Jays dont' have that foundation and want Nomar to be part of it. Big difference

What kind of foundation do the Dodgers have, because all I see are a bunch of other teams retreads.

Why wouldn't Nomar help the Jays though if he could help the Dodgers? I think we all agree that if healthy Nomar can flat out hit. The Blue Jays could have used him in the OF or DH, maybe even 3rd if they decide to trade Koskie. The Blue Jays already have an above average pitching staff of Halladay, Burnett, Lilly, Chacin (spelling?) and Bush/Towers and their pen isn't bad either with B.J. Ryan, Miguel Batista, Brandon League. All the Jays need now are a few big bats to go along with Vernon Wells. Would the Jays win the east or get into the playoffs this year with Nomar? Probably not, but I think they would be better with him.

I actually think the Blue Jays might be fighting for a playoff spot in August, I don't like the money that they're using for Burnett and Ryan but they have upgraded their team. They also have the best pitcher in the AL East in Halladay. I would watch out for them they could be very good this year and it wouldn't shock me if they were the first half of 2005's Baltimore Orioles next year.
