First of all, let's try to please just try to keep this thread civil and calm.

I wasn't able to watch live because I was driving home from Tennesee, I got a text from a friend asking what was up with the phins, and couldn't resist checking the score even though I was trying to save myself. I saw it at 20-0, so I was totally anticipating a shitshow - and especially from a quick browse of the forum thread titles.

However, it wasn't as bad as the sky falling crew wants to believe. There were good things we saw. and bad, PLENTY of bad. Don't get me wrong, it was an ugly game but...

-The defense was okay overall considering who we were playing. I'd like to see Anthony out there to lay some wood over Hull. I felt like we played tighter coverage and it was good. The flags though killed us... speaking of that...

-Timmons played okay I guess, I felt like his presence was a boost to the defense.

-I liked how Tankersley played and competed. I'd rather see him out there getting reps than Maxwell at this point. Maybe someone would offer up a late round pick, doubtful. (seattle? with an injury to lane just now) Next year our cb rotation should look a little better with Lippett back, and young guys gaining some experience. I didn't notice X too much, anyone else key in? Hoops I know you will have had an eye on him.

-Some of the worst officiating I have ever seen. The holding call on Godchaux and then OPI on Stills? Pfft. I think there was a questionable blocking down the field on Fasano. Plenty of other bad calls in the game too. Our offense was actually able to move the ball better than last week and the defense was better too but the flags killed us. Absolutely killed us. Not saying it was the only reason, but plenty of drives stalled / first downs lost / on defense - drives extended.

-Ajayi ran hard as usual

-About the offense- the OL still needs to play better, but is better than last year. Not sure how I feel about the LG rotation in games...

-Cutler had his usual ugly, inaccurate throws- but still had some moments of looking average at least. Can't blame him on that interception too much in my opinion...

-Julius Thomas put forth absolutely no fight or effort for that ball, didn't even try to stop the cb from catching it. Get him out of the starting lineup. Throw all fades to Parker now. If anyone should be in the doghouse it is JT. No effort on blocking either. Gray needs to be our starting tight end.

-I do think Gase's play calling could be better, but he is likely limiting the offense somewhat due to the conditions --> downgrading to Cutler, a shaky OL, which then in turn hurts the defense and they are continually gassed.

That's all for now.

I’d like to say the Saints Defense isn’t as bad as everyone is saying they are. The 1st couple games they were prob shaking off rust because what they did to the Panthers last week showed what they were capable of; ie shutting out Cam Newton and picking him off 3 times holding that offense to 13 points.

Good assessment I agree with you. For me its the what if's, especially with the patriots losing and the parity throughout the league as a whole

The only positive I can take away from the game is that Tankersley held his own, and definitely looked better than Maxwell.

But even that is partially negative for me, because there is no explanation for him being inactive for the first two games of the season. He played well during the preseason and he was a 3rd pick from a big-time program.

The season was over when Tammy went down.

The defense, which we all that was the biggest weak spot, actually has played ok so far. They don't force turnovers or game changing plays- but have kept us in each game so far.

Thought Tank played respectively and Parker looks like he is giving effort. I honestly can't find much more positives today or even last week.

17 penalties in the 1st half. Blaming the refs is for losers 99% of the time. But they’re calls kiled a lot of potential Miami. Most egregious being the Tunsil face mask phantom call. It was nauseating.

Look the league is a mess right now, nobody and I mean nobody looks dominant. At 1-2 a couple wins puts Miami back in the race. Figure this offense out ASAP.

That Tunsil facemask was a joke. Worst call of the game, and of course it wiped out our best offensive play if the game.

Although the OPI on Stills was a close second. He didn’t initiate contact. The DB contacted him. And considering the frequency with which teams run these runs plays in today’s NFL, for that to be called against Stills is unconscionable.
