Let's flash back to Sept. 10. What would you have considered the least likely sentence you'd read after Week 1 of the NFL season?

Would it be something like: Kiko Alonso was the best run-stopping linebacker in the entire league?

Well according to Pro Football Focus, Kiko Alonso was the best run-stopping linebacker in the entire league in Week 1.

He graded out as plus-3.0 against the run in PFF's rankings. The next-closest linebacker was plus-2.3. Alonso played in 82 snaps in his Dolphins debut and registered 11 tackles,

Kiko played well. I saw more than I expected. "Best" LB? Maybe not. PFF's numbers aren't exact, but I'd say top 10 which is better than Miami has seen in years.

I'm not suprised, he played really well overall...

Also, PFF is good as an estimate, I wouldn't take their scores and grades as law, but they give a good general idea of how a player performed.

Kiko better thank the D-line cause they kept him clean most of the game. Don't remember too many O-lineman from Seattle getting to the second level.

No ,they didn't...Phillips and Suh are going to tie up a lot of people...this should allow Kiko to be Kiko and make plays...

How come when I saw him tackle the ball carrier,he was being drug five yards?I quess a tackle is a tackle..no matter where on the field it is.

yeah im thinking it's about does he make the tackles he should make and that answer was a yes but does he make them all the time where he should make them on contact and that answer is a no

I only really found fault in one of those 4th quarter end of game plays...the one where he went up to make the tackle and the rb still fell forward another 3 or 4 yards...we needed him to shut that down and he was in good position to do so...he didnt get enough of the back

the other 4th down play where he's carried he has to come off a 2nd level lineman prior and make the tackle...I think he did about as well as he could there short of shocking the 2nd level lineman back into the hole on contact and knocking down the runner in the process...(which is about as rare as it gets and over the top expectations)

that ball would have galloped into our 2nd level untouched in prior years

for some reason on that 4th down play we slanted down the de branch I guess to try and free up the strong safety reshad jones for the tackle but it didn't work and that 2nd level blocker chipped kiko enough to put him just off center and thus carried

game of damn inches

I had a chuckle at Alonso being carried off, but he did do a great job of clearing clean the guard's arms and getting inside position.

Same thing happened with Zach Thomas. Guys like Daryl Gardener, Tim Bowens, etc. keeping him clean.

Its working..... The d-line to Lb transfer is working...............

After the first week, the trade with the Eagles is a big win.
