History repeats itself, in many ways.

Yesterday I posted how I was happy to be going to the draft and how I looked forward to the excitement of seeing who the phins would draft. I figured there'd be at least one player who'd immediately impact the Dolphins taken with the # 9 pick...Brady Quinn or Levi Brown.

Well, two things didn't happen: one, I didn't get into the draft (ran out of tickets...when they say "Don't line up ahead of time, New York City doesn't allow it," what they mean is "We're just covering our own @#$es. There'll be people lining up.").

Secondly, of course, the Phins got neither player...they got Ginn. And while I like the kid, I like him a whole lot more at # 19 or 20. They reached, pure and simple. He's scrawny, he's unpolished and he's not going to affect the Dolphins plays on EVERY snap next year. A starting LT or QB would have. And the FO passed over the guy who could've given us fans a respectable QB for the first time in seven years.

As for History repeating itself: The last time I was rooting for the 'Phins to take a QB in the first round, they passed on him for another reach player. That guy lit up the league last year: Drew Brees. And I have the feeling that this pick will bite the phins in the butt just like that one did.

Not to mention, the 'Phins have their own story about a QB who was highly touted as a Junior, then posted so-so senior year and then plummeted in the draft. He only managed to rewrite the NFL passing record books.

I've reached my limit with this franchise and its bonehead moves. I love the Phins, but I'm not getting my hopes up for them again. Every time I do, I get my heart broken by these guys (even under different regimes).

And this should tell you something: my fiancee is not a huge football fan...she's only even into football because I am. But even SHE said that she still can't figure out why the Phins didn't take Brady Quinn.

Amen I think you said it all I mean we havent won a Super Bowl since in over 30 years I hate knowing that our teams legacy is built on something I never seen! 72 seems further away every year and I hate to say it we really didnt start the Cameron reign out right all you can say is FRUSTRAITING!! and for all the bashers, trust me I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!

I suggest you dont like the Fins then. How can you say that you dont like this draft class? Brady Quinn would've had to sit a year or two no matter where he went so that thing about "the QB that can start now" would go by the name of Trent Green or Cleo Lemon (depending on what happens tomorrow) Also I don't believe Ted Ginn was a reach.. where was he projected in the first few mocks? Miami. You're one of those guys who buy into the Combine and whatnot too much. The combine doesnt mean jack, if the guy can play, he can play, and trust me Ted Ginn can play. Brady Quinn wont light up anyone this year or next year for that matter. There will be too much pressure riding on him, he has the pressure of the HC's job, the franchise to have a winning season; too much for a Rookie QB to go through. Ted Ginn runs a 4.35 - 40. Which averages out to roughly 10 yards a second; idc where you're projected to go, that's scary speed. We needed offense, we got offense. Satele will help out the O-Line, Beck is the future of the franchise and Booker will be a scary good back-up RB.

I agree with your logic but as I seen on an earlier post We got Beck and Ginn and we could have had Quinn and Jarrett I mean Speed is way overated I watch Carolina wait on Drew Carter who I believe is from OSU and is fast as a jack rabbit BUT HE IS TERRIBLE! Just because someone can haul the mail doesnt make them a football player. And how is his Foot? I mean I hope I am wrong but you know Peter Warrick looked like a Game Changer comming out of FSU and now he is MIA so I just have that same feeling. When we drafted Brown and Carey I had great feelings about those guys, and so did the Fin Nation but today I have a hard time accepting there is only a small minority that is upset, so how can some of you say we are not "TRUE" fans?!? WE HOPE WE ARE WRONG, BUT HISTORY HAS REPEATED ITSELF WAY TOO MANY TIMES IN THE PAST 12 YEARS WITH THIS TEAM!!! sorry draft picks = sorry season! I believe we have a reason to be upset.

I believe we have a reason to be upset.

I think you should wait to see how the picks turn out before you become "upset". Yes we could've had Quinn, i understand that. His last name isnt Marino or Manning so i dont see why anyone cares so much. John Beck has better accuracy and is a faster runner than Quinn.

Yea seriously I can't believe we got one of the biggest offensive playmakers of the draft, what a waste! I can remember a couple years back another receiver named Randy Moss who was considered "scrawny" by many. He only became one of the best receivers ever to play the game.

Ginn is a playmaker, which is exactly what our offense needs. His deep speed will open up short and intermediate routes for Chambers and Booker and also help keep the safety's out of the box, making running alot easier for Ronnie. He will impact our team immediately, Quinn would not have.

In regards to him being a reach, what makes you think that? Because Kiper said so? Was it because of the many mock drafts you read? Are these not same guys who said Quinn was a lock top 10 pick? I can see a bunch of teams between our pick and 20 who could have possibly taken Ginn (Houston,San Fran, Carolina, Green Bay, Tennesee).

There were surprises, Ted Ginn Jr., going to Miami instead of Quinn being the biggest. We have to go back in history to give the Dolphins immunity from being immediately posted in the loser column. As the story goes, Ginn was the receiver the Dolphins were considering since last fall. They loved his speed. Unfortunately, a celebration after a touchdown in the BCS Championship Game led to a foot injury and killed his offseason. Ginn still can run a 4.3 40, but he doesn't have full stability in the foot. His foot will be put in a boot for six weeks and then a six-week rehab begins. The Dolphins are willing to wait.

I highly doubt that anyone else was in a rush to reach for Ginn...not many teams are as crazy as the Dolphins.
